This was quite a surprising turn of events, but something I think was a very good change.

Mythos is being changed into a persistant world, and doing away with the randomised 'paths' to get to each area. Youll now share one huge instance with up to 200 players, each of the 3 zones now being a huge explorable wilderness where you can run into quest NPCs,different settlements and find unusual locations.  Maps will instead now be caves etc that you come across as youre running around, adding to the explorability. Dungeons will still be randomised of course, which is a good thing IMO. Theyve also added hills, mountains and streams etc to make things less flat like it was before.

read all the stuff here:

Well, this definitely addresses a couple of the concerns I've posted.  I'm really looking forward to testing these changes.

Jesus Christ is Lord.

VERY good news =) Good choice on their part. The only concern is how long it'll take. Might take a while, might not. The game was fun when I CB'ed it.

That's actually really cool.

But have they updated the item system?  I played with some friends a few month ago and we all agreed that that was the worse part.

MacBook Pro 15" (Late 2007) - Be patient with my English

As I've written in the official BBS, the instanced/randomized roads were the only drawback of this fun game, IMO, so I'm very happy to read these news. I wish them good luck but I'm confident that this game will be a great success (at least in Europe and US).

its actually going 'live' fairly soon, surprisingly. The devs have been working on this behind the scenes for a while. Zone 1/greenreach will be released, and the other 2 zones will then be temporarily taken down and converted themselves.

I like the idea of finding random dungeons out in the wilderness and having quests spread out throughout the lands, rather than having specific hubs. It'll lend a lot to exploration.

I want to see what the place will look like, whether it will be 1 big land design or if each zone will have different themes depending on what part of it youre in. I really hope it will be so we can run through a forest area, and then come across a large dry field,or perhaps a rocky area with a lake, that kind of thing rather than being one main theme.

Well, it's questionable whether I'll be able to test the new content.  Zone 3 looked like crap on my machine (the previous build looked very nice), apparently could no longer recognize my CPU speed (bugged it) and the, about 3 weeks ago, just stopped working altogether (I'd launch the application and be greeted by a black screen instead of the login screen, but I could still see the cursor).  I downloaded and reinstalled today, but am getting the following error message:

Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file.  You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

So frustrating - the game installed cleanly and played nicely for me with the previous build, but not Zone 3.  Yes, it's beta, but it's supposed to get better, not worse....

With this being a f2p game they just lost the only thing keeping it from turning into a pile.  SilkRoad:Mythos it should be called now.  But people are always blindly optimistic with every f2p game that it wont turn into a silkroad stinker, lets see how many gullible fools there are here.
