"Wheres the violence....wheres the bloodspray?!" -Zorak on the Brak Show

I was just wondering who else on an mmorpg site has yet to ever pay for a subscription to WoW? And then why didn't you ever pay to play? Or even try it once?

Around town here I am almost the only one amongst my friends. It occurred to me when I was in class on the first day of the the spring quarter. When everyone had to do the stupid get know each other gig. Long story short the prof. asked who plays "World of Warcraft?" and he rose his hand.

I looked around and no one did...and I blurted out "Statistically I am pretty sure, at least one more of you have to". Haha.

Hell I even avoided Guild Wars. I know I didn't play WoW because it was same old, same old to me. I played A few days free here and there but the game never took a hold of me. I think all it would have taken is a less cartoonish look to the toons :P

I never avoid a MMO. I always give them a chance. Hell, I even subbed for Pirates of the Burning sea and Vanguard.  Even Post NGE SWG.  I always give them a chance before I say they suck.

On that note I could never understand the slam on WOW.  Every MMO has immature players so I can't really judge WoW for having immature players.  They have the most immaturity because they are one of the largest. I would assume if EQ2 had 9 million players versus 100,000K the lvl of immaturity would be nuts (trust me...as a Guide for EQ2, Ive dealt with my fair share of EQ2 idiots).

I have an active subscription with a few MMOs right now and WoW is one of them.  I enjoy WoW. I'll admit it.  For just as many asshats you will find in WoW, you'll find genuine people.

Graphics aren't great but there not bad either. Its their own (stolen from WAR, I know) style of MMO graphics. Quests are fun (a lot not all) and if I were to ever reroll I wouldnt feel like I had to grind out the same boring quests (I have that problem with EQ2).

WoW isn't as bad as the MMO elitist makes em out to be. They're decent. Sure, there are assholes in WoW. But there are assholes in every MMO. If you have never played WoW....i would at least do the free trial.

And I bet about 10% of that class played wow...they're just feeling the chains of peer pressue lol

Same, I never did play WoW.  It just doesn't feel like something that I could get a hold of... It just seems like if I want to play WoW, I should go find one of the f2p grinds and play that.  I have a large hate for raiding, which is the main reason I haven't tried WoW.

Never try to teach a pig to sing,it wastes your time and annoys the pig.

For me it came down to "If I wanted to play EQLite I would have stayed with EQ2."  That's pretty much it.

Never paid a cent for WoW either. I did play the trial for about 3 days, not bad, really not bad, but I just didn't want to pay for it

why do humans build, because it isn''t there

It's generally not a good idea to listen to this forum.  I consider it stupid to not have played WoW.

Yeah I gave it a chance. I would go ahead though and admit I was totally elitist about it. How can I not? haha. Hell one of the greatest articles I have read recently (believe it was in PC gamer) is how guilds just are not what guilds used to be for the majority of major mmo's.

I know the game is great. It's very polished and a lot of fun. Just I have had that combination of fun with the other mmorpgs. It could never hold me long enough or compel me to come back. My brother is in his room hitting level 70 again right now....I am not taking the stance that I didn't play it because there are so many idiot boxes running around in the game.

Yeah I gave Star Wars a chance too in the beginning. Then through a download trial. Then post NGE (oh my god when was the last time I read "NGE" haha good times. I am just thinking about screaming players). I got the collection set from the store. I loved the space combat anything outside of it though was just...eck. I regret throwing the box away; only sometimes when I gaze at my shelf.

I try to give them all a try even Vanguard (thank you digital trials). But I don't slam hardly at all anymore. I wasn't trying to incite a WoW hate thread here..I don't think I conveyed that.

I have not played Pirates of the Burning Sea yet. But I want to pretty bad. I am curious as to why it precedes vanguard in your reply...are people around here saying it sucks? I had no idea..

Lastly. I bet 10%! Bahaha! Thats why I blurted out in class that statistically some of them had to.

Well....I don't know if you guys know...but WoW is the best selling MMO of all time...and even one of the best selling games of any genre. Ive been playing wow since beta....and yea Im getting tired of it...but when you go from wow to another game....you relize "Hey this game is crap compared to wow". There is so much work/money/time/effort put into wow than most other games its mind boggling. If you havent played WoW....then imo your arent that much of a MMORPG player. Yes WoW is way less difficult than alot of other games. I used to play lineage 2 and that game was pretty hardcore.

You consider it stupid? Well your broad statement packs quite the punch. So your calling my mother stupid eh? :P

I am pretty sure most mmorpg players have at least tried it. I know I have multiple times. I am just curious what others would share that might have differed from my experience of never actually paying to play.
