People may want to keep in mind that Daffid011 firmly believes Vanguard was a game built on sound fundamental concepts that just needed a little more development time. He maintains this even after it was revealed that Sigil senior talent had almost nothing to do with design or implementation of the final product and that the game that hit the shelves was developed almost from scratch in 18 months by junior developers who had never made an MMO before.  To him this is SOE’s fault even though they didn’t take over the game until after it had released and flopped.

If any company is disrespecting its playerbase its Blizzard. They make LOADS of cash and dont release any expansion but every 2 years or so.

Again at least SOE releases content instead of taking in cash from its player base.SOE has a smaller player base im sure everyone realizes that.

So what is Blizzards excuse for not releasing more content if they are pulling in  1 gazillion dollars a month and  SOE is making considerably less?

Go ahead and twist my words around as im sure only a SOE hater can.

You can't make a prediction about someone doing something and them make a comment that practically ensures someone will respond to your comments and "prove your right".  Its called baiting my friend, you are no psychic.

Blizzard was busy giving away FREE content in dungeons, battlegrounds, raid zones, etc.  I know you don't recognize that coming from SOE land where everything has a price tag no matter how terrible it is.  Want a mini expansion?  Swipe your credit card.  What a player website stats?  $$ please.    What to buy gold, $$ please.

You also might be so used to incomplete, unpolished and buggy content that you don't understand that quality takes time in some cases.   SOE releases things on a forced schedule which has always been the companies biggest problem.

While you may not see these things that Blizzard did, because you focus on the money they make SOE certainly has.  Even they are starting to give out free content recently *GASP* and Smed has slowed down expansions, because by his own mouth the quality suffered.   How bad do things have to be for the head chief to make a comment like that?  Come on....

Vanguard has always been a good game in its core concepts and game design "vision". The game has had it share of technical issues and it didn't fully deliver on some of the concepts it aimed for, but the core is solid. Vanguard has alawys had potential to become a really great game depending on it getting sufficient resources to continue that path.

My initial thoughts on Soe are never those about greed, typically more along the lines of poor game management and that whole.. Nge thing. Anyway, I've found that while P2P companies can be occaisonally greedy, the f2ps tend to be much worse. Some of the heavy cash shop game companies are absolutely unbelievably money-hungry, Gpotato, Aeria, and Nexon come to mind as being prime offenders.

Ill up your logic as well:How many expansions (paid or not) does the original EQ and EQ2 have? Now count how many WoW has?

At least SOE churns out the content and new areas and doesnt leave you hangin for over a year.

quality > quanity, If SOE's expansions are so great and full of content, then why dont they have a higher sub count then WoW? WoW releases expansions with a huge amount of content. The only times i remember SOEs expansion being full of content were the EQ expansions(up to shadows of luclin), and JTL.

EDIT: and the only reason why i look at SOE as being greedy, is just the froglok incident in EQ. Everything else theyve done, including drive away customers, has been just about the opposite of greedy.

Question:

Is it better to release an update/expansion early and 'lite' than wait a year and realese a huge expanansion?

I don't know those but I suspect they are 'free-to-play' games and charge microtransactions for anything that will make you 'good' in the game.

Um... they have to be heavy sell in microtransactions or ads.

don't hate them for that.

it's the only way they can survive.

Yeah I think VG has potential, which is why I said just about all your facts weren't straight.  I would say you don't comprehend well, but I am positive you do, but choose other courses in your... discussions.
