do you have the latest drives? have you got all the hot fixes for vista? if yes, then it might be a compatibility problem and Nvedia will have a hot fix soon enough |

Are you overclocking your video card? At what part does it freeze? After character creation, before character creating, or during character creation? Turn off SLI in the nvidia drivers and see if the problem goes away. |

Try re-installing the video drivers after downloading Driver Cleaner Pro and using it in safe mode, first. It's just the easiest thing to start with. Nvidia drivers for the 8800 series, atleast, have been known to screw themselves over if you've tried installing/re-installing drivers(the same old or new versions) more than once on system. Windows(Xp or Vista) just doesn't clean out the uninstalled drivers well enough. Your system, itself, may appear stable and fine when overclocked until you really stress it with a large app. So, I'd rollback the overclocking as well. Whether it's back to stock or incremental is up to you. At any rate, the nvidia cards are touchy, at times. When an issue appears, it will keep happening until it's fixed and the drivers are clean installed(like above). This has been my experience, anyhow. If this doesn't work it's most likely the driver version itself but it could be the card(s). I just have a feeling that it's really the cpu overclocking that's caused the issue to begin with. ...GL! EDIT-- I'm wondering about your PSU, too. But, I figure your set there at 900w or above, for a SLI setup. |
