Only the healers have a deity attached to their gameplay (a Priest of Mitra worshipping Set is kind of out of the question). All the rest of the people can basically follow whichever deity (if any) they fill it fits with their avatar's background.

Role-play wise that is. I hope people realize that most of us can distinguish fiction from reality.

Agreed, I find it ridiculous for someone to say I'm a Christian/Muslim/Bhuddist/Hindu/Whatever so I'm not going to have my char praise a God as I find that clashes with my beliefs. I mean don't you have a problem with drunken brawls, casual sex before marriage, decapitating others for pleasure or financial gain, summoning Demons, trading in weapons of war, slavery, rape and killing creatures for your own selfish gain?

If you have RL moral/religous issues with what your virtual RP character does and/or game content then forget AoC or pretty much any MMORPG. I'd reccomend the Sims online or maybe online Othello, not that I've played the Sims since I have a RL issue with paying for crap!

BTW in RL I praise Gary Numan, I'm sure he wouldn't be offended by what I do in the virtual world :)

As priest of mitra i think there is no way not to worship mitra.

As I said previously digital bytes and bits of code disappearing is a little different than doing that junk in RL, however any form of worship seems wrong. It's not like am actually murdering(raping? I have yet to see a game with this in it anyways) a person, just changing bits of code. I never did have sex before marriage or any of that sort and am now married, but anyways..

You are not worshipping, your character is, (or isnt) who like you said is bits of code.  The gods in game are also bits of code, so its not like your actually worshipping, just like you say you are not actually killing.

I never felt, when reading Howards works, that the world, in which Conan lived, was based on this earths, history, as steel was not very plentiful anywhere, save Japan, and maybe, Scandinavia, until after the time of Christ. So I figure my char will be fictional, go figure, and so will the Gods in the game. And, any worshiping will all be fictional, cause its fiction.

Sorry if I seemed like I was telling anybody how they should play AoC, I didn't intend to come off that way. I was just saying in my opinion I found his reasoning ridiculous. Opinions are like arseholes because everybody has one, so no need to take what I said personaly. If you're a Christian or member of any religion and find ingame worship uncomfortable then no-one can force your character to worship ingame. I might try to convert you ingame ;) but that's all about RP and not real life issues with religion.

Games like AoC are meant to be an escape, something you do to get away from the real world for an hour. So that you can forget the nagging wife and the screaming kids for a bit, so I'm not going to involve and RL ideas ingame. I'm certain that if you believe worshiping a god ingame is wrong you won't be trying to spread your RL issues with it ingame, maybe try some conversion by the sword ;) In the end no-one is hurt and we are both enjoying playing the game how we want to.

I respect that Magicbush has his own opinion on the matter and is free to voice it on these forums, I certainly don't find it offensive just that I disagree with it. I hope magicbush or anyone else of the same opinion wasn't offended by my opinion, I apologize if you were.
