You sure the kids we see under 16 are really teenagers? This is the second story just in the past two months. When I was young this was unheard of. Now days it seems a common occurrence. Three Teens Charged in Murder Plot! . ET, Fri., April. 25, 2008 LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A trio of Louisville teenagers has been arrested and charged with plotting the death of a middle school student. Louisville police spokesman Phil Russell says detectives began investigating after a call from authorities at a middle school in eastern Jefferson County, who reported that there was word of a plot by some students to kill a fellow student. Russell says three people had been working since March to plan the murder of a 13-year-old girl. Police arrested two girls, ages 13 and 14, on Tuesday and charged them with conspiracy to commit murder. Neither has been named because of their age. Seth Ryan Woods, 19, of Louisville, also was arrested on the same murder conspiracy charge. Russell said the teens had planned to execute their plan by this weekend. Yes...kids under 16 are still teenagers.... Just because some of them are screwed up doesn't mean all of them are,

I blame it on this teen angst trend. Granted, hormones play a large role in teenage douchebaggery, but neither me nor my friends ever acted like homicidal maniacs. When did teenagers get so melodramatic? |

Someone should ask why the 19 year old was involved with 13 and 14 year olds. |

Everyone is entitled to be stupid, but some abuse the privilege. |
I believe the problem stems from two major things: parents and the unregulated internet. Parents find it easier to send their kids to go play on the internet or watch TV rather than spending time actually doing something with them. As long as the kids are being quiet and keeping our of their way, the parents don't bother to check to see what they're up to (although, I will admit that kids are very adept at quickly hiding what they are doing online). Parents also tend to be busier these days (both working, or example) and less involved in what their children are doing. Yes, I know not all parents are like this...but many are. When I was in high school, we had no internet where we could instantly read the thoughts and ideas of just about anyone in the entire world. Our exposure to the world was reduced to those in our own community or what we learned in school, in other words, it was extremely limited. Now, with a couple of clicks, we are able to share our values, opinions and ideas - even the really bad or screwed up ones - with more than just a handful of people in the neighborhood...we can share them with the entire global community. Others listen, when they may not ever have considered these ideas before. Then they, in turn, act on them and spread the information on to others. Take youtube for example: I knew a local kid that started in a serious fire in his parents' garage because he wanted to have a cool youtube video. He later told the parents that he got the idea from another kid's video, showing how to the same thing.
