Oh come on... we are talking here about a game that will cost about 50 bugs, and not a million dollar investment. In the time you were looking for the reasons for cancel pre-order you could go to work and earn that amount ;)

I will buy it couse the marketing looks good, if the game dont make fun I will not play it ... so simple. Listen to critics from others about a such stupid thing is a waste of time. You live just once ! :)

Just my position....

WAR Is Coming...

Nothing in the below post breaks the NDA in any shape or form, having said that, here are 10 reasons why you should cancel your pre-order ASAP.

1. The so called "open beta" is infact a fileplanet subscriber exclusive.

2. The open beta only allows you to get to level 13, which means you wont even get to the MMO part of the game. Might aswell be a singleplayer demo in that aspect.

3. With less then a month left to release the NDA is STILL in effect.

4. Online gaming sites have only been allowed to play under supervision and for a very limited amount of time, which effectively limits their reporting to whatever funcom wants them to report.

5. Countless beta leaks on various forums (of which many are consistent with other leaks) stating a plethora of issues with the game and that it is not ready for release.

6. Where are the ACTUAL siege movies? So far all weve seen are video demonstrations and not fraps recordings of two real beta guilds sieging it out. Not even a screenshot!

7. Its funcom. Remember Anarchy Online? Dubbed by many to be the worst launch in MMO history(possibly rivaled by dark and light).

8. Lucrative yet expensive pre-order deals (read: siege mounts) usually means the devs are out to make a quick buck before the shi* hits the storm (a'la dark and light).

9. The amount of information released on one of the game's biggest selling points is vague at best, looking more like a showcase of its potential then what is actually implemented right now. Yes im talking about sieging.

10. And last but not least, its fanboys. Ive noticed a trend in games that fail soon after release and that is; the crappier the game, the more rabid the fanboy. We saw this trend in Vanguard, Dark and Light, Pirates of The Burning Sea and DDO. All of whom can be considered rather huge failures in terms of hype pre-release versus success post-release.

All these games had huge followings of rabid fanboys that would burn alive any critic of the game no matter how sounds their arguments were. This trend has become painfully apparent in AoC and unfortunately, its due to these fanboys that would rather flame and troll then question the developers motives of not releasing a full scale NDA-free beta that will ultimately doom this game.

Out of those 10 reason guess how many i see that sound relevant? ZERO

Try reading some posts about the game and you might actually realize why every single thing you listed is being done.

research b4 posting = ftw

No MMO will be as good as EQ1 back in the day...

Man people just can't get over a game that looks promising. There will always be haters amongst the bunch. But to type out stupid reasons why you want to cancel a pre-order is sad. Most of that information you could of easily found out when you pre ordered. So besides the whole file plant thingie, whats your beef? Oh thats right, its the file planet thingie. You could of easily just stated that, but then again why would you care, you canceled you pre-order. If you have been a file planet member like me for years, then  you probably happy. Why must you ask? Because this is the first time that 5/month has paid off. No ones PAYING for beta. We are paying for the options we got into when we signed up for a file planet membership some odd years or months ago. And it finally pays off. How awesome. If you are mad, and can't afford the 5 bucks a month, or 15 for 3/months or w/e. Then how can you afford the 15 a month for a game your whining about? All sugar, with no SUBSTANCE, yet again.

EDIT: and to the one who stated Fileplanet members mean nothing, we are gamers just like you. Just because we dont post on a forum board doesnt mean were better or worse than you at gaming. Comments like that only show why they dont post on these boards.

It's the fileplanet beta that means nothing not the players. People are paying to play a beta of a single player intro/tutorial. If you want to pay fileplanet to download demos and betas that's fine with me. I personally think it's a scam and a ripoff so I didn't do it. I really don't think anyone is mad because they couldn't afford it. Let's be realistic if you can afford the damn game and a pc to run it with a broad band connection you can afford a fileplanet sub. Quit getting all defensive because some people think it's a waste of money. It's just a difference of opinion, get over it.

You should eat your own words. Because what I stated was my opinion also. Don't see how you missed that one. People are not only playing to test/beta games, they pay for the premium download server, and no waiting in line when downloading. Although things didn't go exactly that way, I can say I am happy with what they did. I got my key, i got my download, and i will be playing soon enough. I consider myself a hardcore gamer and prefer perks like that. I can afford it. But what makes it sad is when you can't, or just don't want to. So you come to these forum boards and think making a list hides that fact. If you are canceling your pre-order, thats your deal. But when you share your view with the public, you get what you deserve.

I'm hoping that you'r not right about this, cause i remember vanguard, was suppose to get me quit wow, unfourtunatly didn't go that way because of the early release. We'll see, have to give AoC a try like any other mmo before anybody start to flame it.

1. Fileplanet sucks.

2.  You very obviously have no clue in the world what you are talking about, congratulations. You can switch BETWEEN Night and Day, each being either single player or multiplayer, this is widely known.

3. It's not like this isn't normal.

4. Welcome to 2008.

5. The only people that leak are obviously people who for whatever reason don't like the game, you don't see people leak about the good parts of the game because they are obviously enjoying themselves and don't want to risk losing beta access, there's this thing called the NDA, you know?

6. Well, a Fraps recording would be against the NDA, once again, you make yourself look like an ass. And there is actual footage, http://youtube.com/watch?v=9TTsDVeurU8 . Whether that was at GC or not makes no difference, the developer is actually playing, it is not scripted, which is very, very obvious.

7. AO was released nearly *7* years ago. Do you seriously think FC hasn't learned from their mistakes?

8. Um, Siege Mounts come pretty much free from select distributors. (Game Stop, Best Buy, etc)You don't have to pay a penny extra when buying from them.

9. Once again, what the hell do you mean.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=9TTsDVeurU8

http://pc.ign.com/articles/869/869633p1.html

There's plenty of information out about sieging.

10. PotBS sucked, that is all.

There's 10 reasons not to listen to this idiot, he has no knowledge about the game and it is very, very obvious.

On your second point, that is a logic answer.. Seeing everyone on release will be low lvl, excellent way to stress test what release will do to the server and everyone in the noob town piled together, while in there day mode (multiplayer mode). Also they will be seeing how this effects the other areas outside of them, in and out of instances etc... The bonus is giving people that really want to see the game before release that were not in the beta a chance too while accomplishing there own tests internally on the servers and everyone in the same area.

And all that from a disgruntled SWG fan.

They release NDA for open beta. Not for closed beta tests.

I felt i had to quote this for emphasis as many dont seem know about this. The above post is indeed true, funcom are NOT releasing NDA for close beta testers, only for open beta testers. That means all you level 13 newbies running around in your singleplayer tutorial can post about how amazing the game is.

In either case, ill be here on release, pointing and laughing, just like i did on Vanguard and Dark and Light. It seems some people never learn.

Good to know.
