Originally posted by Fukkfase Nice. Impressed and jealous. Why, does the graphic in the game impress you that much that you don't think it is possible to have. I mean you really have to be impressed by the looks of Conan compared to your "favourite" games when you come up with a phrase like that. So really in the end I guess the appropriate word (from me) would be "Thank you". Get Conan yourself instead of looking from the outside in. I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention. |

Fattynopants and Orphes: I said nothing that justified you insulting me. Save me the fanboyism and try some objectiveness. I have this game preordered by the way. "The game has some pretty challenging performance issues, and while the graphics are really good, the number of pauses and skips as the game loads this stuff up can get really irritating. From the talk of other players in the chat, feeding Conan super-fast CPUs, gobs of RAM, and dual $500 video card setups helps somewhat, but it won't eliminate the issue. I hope that these issues can be ironed out for release, and in the case of MMO launches, this has happened in the past as debug code has been turned off and final optimizations went into place." http://www.atomicgamer.com/article.php?id=554 "The graphics are definitely high end and in my opinion the best “realistic” graphics currently available in a mmorpg. As for their performance it’s sadly what I expected. The game is a big fat resource hog and my PC is having trouble providing me with a decent looking and playable experience to my personal requirements. Your mileage may vary but here are my specs which should give you an idea of where your performance will be:
The game has three options for default settings: Low/Med/High and a lot of customizable options for scaling. I am able to run it on Med with tweaks to AAx2, AFx4, shadows completely off, draw distance <1000, and textures on medium and bloom OFF. On average I am able to pull 25-40fps (and yes, it fluctuates regularly giving it the illusion of hitching or being skippy) when I’m not in PvP. When I get into PvP my FPS drops under 20 and drops below 5 in huge fights with spell effects. It’s completely unacceptable performance for pseudo-twich pvp and I hope that the problem will be rectified before release." http://www.keenandgraev.com/?p=982 There are several reviews stating similar things. I certainly hope the issues are gone by release as well. The thing is, no matter what they do, I doubt it will be playable with "screenshot settings" in big-scale PVP without framerate issues etc. unless your computer is COMPLETELY off the hook. Most people don't have that. So to repeat myself: If you think you're going to play with the game looking like that, you'll be disappointed. |

Here are the official system requirements:
A top of the line nVidia 8xxx has zero issues with everything maxed in the game. The game looks exactly (or better) than those screenshots. A 9xxx line will give even better results. We already know that the game has steep hardware requirements. It's a developer's choice and it'll limit the game's market penetration. Unlike games of the past however, the current hardware available can run the game in a respectable manner. More so, once the client gets compiled without the debug code. Bottom line, a decent modern system can achieve these screenshots at a respectable frame-rate. Past systems will struggle; how much depends on the retail game client. |

Avery, you may have some more info so here goes. Awesome still caps, as always. But after I got my grubs on the pvp beta client the spell effect were simply amazing BUT the spell animations were...euhm...not smooth. At all. I'd cast and there was no follow-through in the motion through to the effect itself on the mob. It seemed choppy. My question is, will it be more than pretty screenshots? Will the animations actually do the screenshots justice?

Originally posted by Fukkfase Fukkfase, if you think anyone is going to try playing a major siege with everything turned to max, you're nuts. But, Fukkfase, when NOT in a major siege, why not turn everything up? What you don't understand, Fukkfase, is that people are quite used to turning down settings for the big battles. Most games are like that, Fukkfase. Btw, Fukkfase, I like you're name. Hope I didn't spell Fukkfase wrong. :) |

Personally, anything under 30-40 and I really can't stand playing a game. I regularly turn settings down, even with older games, so that I am running a steady 60 FPS. |
