I had to let me PC stay on for 3 whole days to download that beta, i didnt get higher than 100kb/s, and i know alot of ppl where downloading the beta but on the other side i think they should had opened even more servers because downloading 12,5GB's with a download speed of 100kb is no fun at all :(.

Btw: I live in The Netherlands wich is Europe too :).

And i wouldnt recommend subscribing to Fileplanet if you live anywhere else except the US/Canada, since you cant make any profit out of it, like getting a free magazine subscription wich are for US/Canada only.

my sentiments exactly what is this madness lol. id be damned if i pay for a beta. i already pre ordered it, and got a friend who is in the beta. so ill leech off his info about it. im not that hungry and hard up to play to pay money even if its a miserable $5.

You know the only time I have problems with fileplanet are when I download off of servers that are in the current buisness day.  I am in MST, so I usually download off a server that is in the middle of its time zones night time.  I seem to do pretty good like that, I get anywhere from 400k-1100k.  Oh well maybe its just me.

Whats the big wuzz about paying that 5$, its like 3 euros wich is nearly a Big Mac or so.

goes beyond that. its the principle shall we logic of not paying for a unfinished product that has yet to get the green light for retail. i wont do it, Im sorry but i have standards.

Noone should have to pay for beta.  And noone should have to pay for something he doesn't even get into.  Ofc its a ripoff.  But hey - thats games for u.  It has nothing to do with what players are after.   Just wait till u get to lvl 13 in 3 hours and then u actually find out how much of a rippoff it is - even for those that actually got in. 

Cause thats what it is - to lvl 13 takes about 3 hours.

Now - ppl are welcome to do that for the next 20 days or so over and over and over again.  But I promise u that those guys will not be very intrested in buying the game.

Current fileplanet ripoff only proofs Funcom is not here for the players.  But I think we all know it by now.  Thats why I keep telling ppl to NOT preorder this game - NOT buy it until you get reviews from players that know what the game is about.

If you want to have a shot at the Beta without paying, just use, for example, the MMORPG.com contest. No payments need be made there and you get your chance that way. Nothing paid, no regrets.

You know what boggles me the most? People who want to dictate how other people spend their money and telling them they are stupid for doing things the way they do them. It is -amazing- how many people seem to think their way of thinking about such things is the only right way.

Chill out. Those who pay for it do it because they can and want to (or because they're desperate, but those are beyond help anyway), and those who don#t want to pay will simply use the other promotions going on.

This debate should have been over the moment a free possibility for entry into the Beta came up. Instead, people keep lamenting about it. Which is a joke.

That subscription is cheap but i simply hate being invited to join an open beta when i actually have to pay for it :-(

The only logical reason for using paid subscription members like fileplanet's was because of the mature label.  Giving some out for free to players that don't even have to proof their age is again showinh it had nothing to do with age limitation in the first place.

But again - ppl are free to do what they like.  Funcom is giving ppl 13 "polished" lvls and leave the rest unpolished.  It doesn't tell us much about the game.  And considering they are not lifting NDA its kinda obvious where this one is going.
