The screenshots make this game look like a bad joke.  Like something from 1990.  Is this for real?

The graphics aren't the best part, but they aren't that bad, not as good as EVE, but I just like the game play and the teams of this game more. And the fact that you can just talk to the admins.

I tried this game... For quite a while and it was fun and it got maybe a tad confusing at different points. I mean I wanted to build a space station and had no idea where to start... So I gave up on that straight away.

What bothered me the most... Was the fact that yeah although it's such an easy game to install and setup, as soon as I got on it I couldn't hit anything! Why? Laaaaaaaaaaaaag... On an under 30mb downloaded game. How is that even possible.

Overall it's a good game... If you can put up with the lag.

Star Sonata has improved their graphics and effects since March 2008 and it's really getting crowded nowdays. 

I think it's hard to judge a sci-fi game by looking at the screenshoots only. You should just download and try out yourself. It's a free game to play and easy to download anyway.

This game is developing fast and it's fun to play.

If you look at thee mechanics of this game you can compare it to the former RuneScape. The game designers focused on good features rather than good graphics. Graphics are all I ever hear about these days, Graphics Graphics Graphics. Graphics are noit what makes a game fun. if this was the case , then we wouldn't have any games today.

Want to know why? The first successful games, such as Simcity Classic, had graphics that were big red, green, and blue boxes. If you don't think those graphics are bad, you're nuts... But it's a very fun game if you ignore the bad graphics!!! Hence the reason the early sims series is so successful. Rollercoaster Tycoon 1 and 2 were both sucessful, but not 3... Why? Because 1 and 2 were about features and gameplay, while 3 had many bad errors and glitches, but better looking graphics. The glitches caused it to crash, so people didn't care about the graphics, because they couldn't even play the game! Many successful games have gone awry, much like RuneScape, Simcity 4 Deluxe, and Rollercoaster Tycoon have, and focused on graphics rather than game function, leading to their downfall. I will no longer play any of those games, due to the fact that they are no longer fun, despite having semi-realistic graphics now.

I tend to agree with this sentiment; however, Simcity classic as one of the first successful games? :-D Come on now.

Very very true. Half the Space-based MMOs out right now really aren't done justice by their screenshots. They all play very differently and they seem to have a lot more depth than most fantasy MMOs. Since many are F2P, download a few and check them out. You may be pleasantly surprised.

 I tried this game a couple months back, but before i could explore all its awesome and cool features it lagged me so bad that i remembered the good ol' 14.4k days. How can sucha small game with mediocre graphics at best lag like this, I asked myself?

And then i proceeded to uninstall the game after 5 mins.

wow i just read this and you guys are retarded im lvl 575 this game its fking amazing building a station is good cause it lvls you up gets u money and keeps you alive in guild wars in that game so if i where you play it and get used to it not just judge it for how it is when FIRST START OUT NOOBS :3

 For anyone who had problems with lag before, I just want you all to know that we've upgraded our server to use Amazon's cloud computing and the lag is really a thing of the past.  We're smoking on an 8 core instance with our database split out three ways and distributed.
