I pre-ordered the game a few days ago and I didn't get anything but the receipt. Then they tell me they won't have any boxes in until a day after the game comes out. What?! That sucks. Just gonna have to live with it. Then I see on this forum where Gamestops are handing out the cards with the early access codes. So I went in about a half hour ago and told the manager that i pre-ordered it and asked if  there was anything I was supposed to get with it. He says, no, he hasn't heard anything about it except for the mammoth. So I leave and check out online what Gamestop is offering to people who pre-order with them. Apparently I'm supposed to get a game guide along with all that other stuff. What the hell Gamestop?  Is it just the one in my town that's so terrible or are they all like that?

Go back and get your card, that is the war mammoth.

Guides Etc. usually come in the pre-order box

I pre-ordered AoC CE at Gamestop where I live (Sweden). I just got a recite. Then when I asked about the early access thing, they said it didn't come with the box, and that I had to buy myself into the early access ($5 or something) at the official AoC webpage.

They are the worst !  Haven't been to one in years.  All they care about is the latest stupid console game.

Best Buy suits my needs just fine.

Same thing happened to me, I didn't know during TR pre-order that you would get a TR t-shirt, I argued with the lady at gamestop and she refused to give it to me.

I don't really think they train the folks there very well when it comes to pre-orders.

Would I be able to pre-order from somewhere else online and just forget about the one at gamestop?

here is a heads up....i heard that mostly ALL of the gamestops that didnt receive their preorder codes yet wont have them in time for the early access anyway...

now seing as this was the MAIN reason i preordered i was a little pissed to find out this info.

i had called about twice a week in the last month to check if they got cards and kept getting the same thing everyone else gets "oh we will be getting them closer to release date dont wrry we will call you"...

SO HERE'S MY ADVICE - I also found out just recently that best buy is NOW offering the same deal but you get a rhino instead of the mammoth (no deal breaker there) - and i called my local best buy and what do you know.. They have them in stock and plenty...they come in the form of a pre order box with best buy so you get the rave card type thing right then and there no fuss...

Good luck guys hope this helps some of you i know theres a lot of folks out there in this situation...

Yes, go back and tell Gamestop to shove it. Give 'em back any crap they gave you (whether you used it or not ) and get your money back on the pre-order.

I quit shopping at my Gamestop when I walked in one fateful day and noticed that every single Computer Game they had int he store (most of them brand new games that had just been released within the past three months) were all on this little bargain bin table in the middle of the floor.  Then I saw nothing but Console advertisements all over the place.  No more PC Gamer Mag in the store either.

 

Now I have to go to Best buy for all my PC Gaming needs.  Which isn't such a big deal, but I used to work there.  I know how they con people into stuff.... and it just makes me want to throw up everytime I walk in there and see the same people.

I noticed the same thing in Electronic Boutique - all the PC games in a bargain bin, no new PC games for sale. I wonder if EB and Gamestop are run by the same company?

Gamestop bought EB's and Babbages long time ago, and they bought up Rhino a bit ago as well.

Yea they are, I worked for Gamestop about 2 years ago for 3 days. The manager there pissed me off, when they hired me they said I would get at least 30 hours but then when I got my schedule I had only 8 hours! Now I am working for HP at 40 hours a week lol, shows them..
