If you didn't already know, there us is a rumour that DnL 2.0 is 70% complete and hopes to fix all that is wrong with the current game.

www.darkandlight.com/forum/showthread.php

Notice there's been no dev denials at all...

I'd just like to say that I never thought anybody would be so stupid to fall for the same lie twice, actually that's a lie, but it still feels it's my duty to point out the idiocy of it.

Will there be pre-orders to DnL 2.0?  Can Np3 pull off the same con again?

I think they can - the fools are waiting on the sidelines, how sad is that?

I think Dark and LIght is a great game and a super project with a lot of potential. I'm ready to pay for anything they come up with in the future for Dark and Light. The problem has been that they haven't patched in a year and the patches have been small (apart from the major UI overhaul, which was cool).

If Dark and Light at some point includes player owned housing/cities, then I will be there ASAP. I've always dreamt about that.

I have to say that Dark and Light provides the sense of a world where you can really immerse yourself. It's unlike any other game I've tried. Even though it is so dead now. But, it wasn't once and it was so fun to play when the game had lots of people trying it out. .. Having cities and houses would definitely have been a lot of fun. Also NPC city sieges and more large scale PvP. That is a fun thing in Dark and Light.

... I'm thinking that all the high level players will make it really hard for new people to join in on the PvP. So that's a bad thing. If they really choose to re-release DnL as DnL 2.0, then they should wipe all characters.

But, I don't know.. I guess it would be fun enough to play from the bottom. .. No matter what. Good luck DNL!

I am quoting Dekamore:

Ok this is some things i have received info on.
One the last patch we received was when they started reworking the game from the ground up. The dev team is small now but they have been working hard and believe in the project. They will be rereleasing the game called "Dark and light 2.0" soon, and where over 70% done when I heard this information, and that was months ago.

I hope they do get the game out soon and hope everything goes well.
I can not say where I got this information. But know I am not making up that I received it. I just hope that it is true. One thing is a 100% rebuild of the game so the bugs and works of the Dev that left, and locked all his code are gone.
So I was told.

Again all I am saying is this is what I was told.
I feel something needs to be said here seeing all the new games that are coming out.
Come on DNL Dev’s we are still here even after all the bad that was done to us. Make us happy we stuck it out.

So Dekamore is a long time player of Dark and Light. It's very possible he could have gotten this information and it certainly sounds really promising. I'm really glad! :)

It looks like all the mmorpg fans will have something nice coming to them! We have a lot of promise going on no. More than ever. Things look really bright.

Dark and Light re-released without Pix's incompetence (yes, he was incompetent and his coding was terrible). Shadowbane resets servers (a lot of players are having fun there). Star Wars Galaxies chapters coming along nicely and the game is just thundering ahead with a bigger Dev team and a lot of ideas! Fallen Earth getting further and further along in its development. Darkfall getting closer to its release! .. I never thought I would say this, but I really am going to have a hard time figuring out what I want to play the way things are looking right now. .. In just 6 months we will have seen some HUGE chances on the mmo scene. In 1 year even better and I am just ecstatic about what will happen in 2 years once these projects will be in a monthly updating routine! Hurray for mmos!

Is that some type of medicine?

Anyway, I am still really positive about these recent things going on in the MMO scene. :)

And hehe.. It feels good to sit and watch people get more and more frustrated with the fact that Age of Conan doesn't live up. Lol.

I knew it all along. The players who have gotten past the "mmo-rookie" status wont settle for linear gameplay anymore and Age of Conan is too linear. You can't breathe in all those instances. .You just can't-

How was PiX incompetent? It was the owners of DnL that were incompetent. They stripped a guy of his job and thought they could use his code and knew what to do with it. They themselves screwed up the game by not knowing how to code. If you look at PiX's recent projects you can clearly see he knows how to program and is pretty good at it. DnL 2.0 will be yet another joke on the MMO community. Theirs a reason they have to remove the code, they lost the battle. (Or at least mostly lost) Either way , the company is a joke and should be taken down. Why must they keep thinking people will play into their scam.

From what I have been able to gleen from this whole discussion is that this whole legal matter seems to be fought over ownership of a graphics engine that is no longer state-of-the-art and cannot practically be upgraded.

It wouldn't matter if NPCube won the suit or lost it, the game would have to be re-done *anyway*!!

It looks to me like NPCube/Farlan are not going to win in October.  It also looks to me like Farlan does not have the financial resources to redo the game even if they did win, or they would have made a settlement four years ago in the first place, and we would not have had all this 'sturm und drang' for our reading enjoyment.

I mean really people, World War One was fought in less time than this legal debacle has gone on.  Win, lose, or draw, the only *real* winners in this fiasco will be the lawyers (as usual).

If DnL is reborn after October, I will be quite suprised.

What I mourn is not the passing of the game or the company so much as those elements of the game that no other company seems to want to incorporate into their releases.

You laugh at AoC but you continue to support a broken game. At least AoC won't be broken and playable. It may not be totally envisioned the way it should have been, but it won't cause a legal battle and some bs servers/coding that actually ruins a perfectly good engine. Still laughing about that deal. I don't know how you can laugh at anything if you support DnL, one of the worst MMOs launched in history, good game there flyboy.
