The game will either be released, or it won't. If it is released, it will be good or it won't. These matters have been discussed, speculated on, trolled and flamed to death, with either side having no proof. Apart from the occasional updates on the games' status, there's really nothing worth discussing. I don't see the point in insulting people who don't have any hopes for Darkfall, and vice versa. Why do people give a damn.

Some people feel threatened (Haters) by darkfalls features.

Some simply don't have anything better to do.

Because originally i am sure the intent of these forums was to bring together those who supported the games development and were anticipating its release.

But in the process of this games long development  (2 years with Razorwax, then 5 with Adventurine) several other games have been released and have been dismal failures. For example Dark & Light, which was pretty much one of those few games intended to be a scam of the playerbase. Along with other games that are considered "flops" there evolves the negative poster. The negative poster had a reason to be, they were the gamer watchdog and they set out to inform other MMO game players to stay away from games like D&L.

The negative poster (also known as a troll) then learned that they can get attention from game followers (or fans) by passing off speculation and innuendo as fact. They got attention from flames, and outright lies. In the process of this, the trolls found what was missing in there real lives and replaced this lack of social interaction with flames and the desire to make others angry and unhappy about there game and its development. From watch dog to that annoying terrier that barks all day, the trolls have found a place to vent lifes frustrations upon those who want a game to be released, or enjoy other games that are released.

Back to DF. Razorwax Announced this game almost as soon as it was starting to be developed, but once Adventurine bought the game they basically restarted its development. So in effect DF has been in devlopment on average with other games such as WoW, DAoC, or EQ2. The devlopers of DF are not afforded any latitude by the Trolls because in there opinion the game has been in development for 7 years, technically there correct but in reality its 5.

So in the end you will find yourself on the fence or on either side of it. DF has a multitude of features that serious PvP players are looking for, alot of those players have had the rug pulled from under them in the past, so its easier for them to just be negative and not be disappointed if the game does not meet expectations. Either way this game will have a huge impact with its release or its cancellation.

@OP: I dont know, too. But Dradiins explanation sounds plausible.. so dont feed the trolls as i have heard.

The only problem i have with this sometimes, is, that we can not discuss the real problems or possibilities about Darkfall and the concept behind it. Because every third post at least is another troll post followed by a lot of off topic posts from defending fanboys.

With other words... no discussion is possible here.. but on the other side it has some entertaining value from time to time.. to read all those useless and senseless jabbering. Just dont take take it serious... and dont become a fanboy, who think he could serious defend anything against those trolls, or another troll.

Because when a game is in development for 7 years , and is still in alpha, thats a very bad sign. And it is certainly worth discussing.

When the devs have been lying about beta for the last 5 years, thats a very bad sign.

As stated by me in this thread and i am sure in countless other threads by others who actually know alot about this game and its development; DARKFALL HAS BEEN  IN DEVELOPMENT BY THE CURRENT DEVELOPERS FOR 5 YEARS NOT 7. 5 years is average development for AAA MMOs yet given the fact that DF is made by independant developers people still complain about the length of development.

in 2003 they  said beta would start in a month. in 2004 , they said beta was about to start . In 2005, they said beta was about to start. i have proven over and  over that they didn't start over in 2003 .

Imo, because people love to discuss everything.  They love to "fight" everything... sprots, politics, religion, any kind of belief or any kind of "flag".

Again your post about "why people discuss this and like this?" is turning into if it was 5 or 7 years... hehe

People LOVE to just bash others ideas or believes.  It's a very human thing, I presume.

And about the one thread discussing this specific topic.. did we not have enough discussion about it, with no end in sight.. but well.. if you want to discuss it.. start a thread, and if all just discuss(or flame) in this single thread, and nowhere else, everything would be alright.

And from my personal thoughts about this topic, i will say it again.. as i said it in the past. Yeah the development last 7 years up to now, there is still no public(not talking about open) beta, and they have announced one to often that a beta will be soon. All that granted, and yes these are very well reasons to be sceptic about Darkfall. But nevertheless for me the concept and the features are as interesting that i will wait until i can play this game or it is officially canceled... with as much bad signs before as possible. Would i preorder it? No. Would i invest my money on it? No. Would i play it, and test it, and would i love this concept, if realized in good shape and a fun way? Yes, most probably

which is even both uncertain, and remains to be seen, even if they have all features, without a lot of bug, it could be not fun to play, and could be broken in a lot of other core concept features.. or just not my personal taste. Look, there are almost no information about the combat, except it is fpsish, and may be similar to Mount&Blade(70%).. well not a lot of information, if you ask me, and not enough to presume if it is any good or even fun. And there are a lot of points like that, which could alludes that the game can fail, even if they have all announced features, 100% bugfree, without any lag.

But no, we dont talk or discuss about that. We just talk about the ridiculous point that they have a very long development circle, and have announced a few to much beta dates. But  in all honestly.. i cant remember one game, which didnt have several beta and release dates pushed back again and again.. ok.. it may even worst in DF.. but from my point of view the worst thing which could happen is the cancelation of it.. and that again is nothing new or special in the industry.

So start the friggen "Darkfall is in develepment for 7 years, and has a lot to much beta announcements! Bad sign for the success and release of it! Be warned!" thread and we can discuss it there to page 11238892, and make it a sticky.. and let all other topics alone, and discuss there other topics about DF.. without interuption from "DF is vapor" troll posts. and one million friggin "DF fails" threads.

Ok? Good? I would even start this thread bymyself if it would help for anything. But i doubt that the trolls would stop trolling.. because.. you know they are trolls after all.

Game under development now is 5 years old summer 2008. Even the Developers admit that the game were started from scratch summer 2003. So youre wrong and wont admit it cause you want the game to look worse then it is. Pathetic.

Yes I already proved too about 10 times that they didnt start over in 2003. I even provided links and everything. So give it up already

 

 

I provided links from the developers themself that they see 2003 as the startdate of game today. If you can get some links that is more accurate then developer statements then fine, but you know what, you cant, so just give up.

All you do is making stuff like this up to make Darkfall look worse.
