It's an random item that drops in EQ and EQ2 that you can use for another game that you can play while in EQ and EQ2. How is this RMT or not available to all players?

Gamers who use RMT are like athletes who use steroids.

Ohreally is absolutely correct, it's RMT pure and simple. Players have to be registered for Legends of Norrath to be able to use or trade the cards which costs money. Booster packs which cost money offer ingame rewards, no ingame effort is required to earn those items.

Legends of Norrath is an online-only trading card game, based on the world of Norrath from the massively multiplayer online role-playing games EverQuest and EverQuest II. Playable from within the MMOs and separately, Oathbound, the first set for Legends of Norrath features over 350 digital cards and is available in both a 55-card digital starter deck and 15-card digital booster packs.

Get great rewards in EverQuest and EverQuest II! With each deck of Legend of Norrath cards, you will have the chance of receiving special cards that grant you actual in-game items that can be claimed by one of your characters. Check out this list of what you can get in both EverQuest and EverQuest II!

What can a player do once they are registered for Legends of Norrath? Registering for Legends of Norrath unlocks all the features of the game. Once you are registered, you will have access to Trades, Scenarios, Tournaments and Skirmish Mode.

How do you become a registered player for Legends of Norrath?  To register, simply purchase at least one booster pack ($2.99 plus any applicable taxes) from the Legends of Norrath store which will then grant you all of the features of the game.

With PvE raiding it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fauning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privelege. - Neanderthal

Funny... I always associated the term RMT (Real Money Trade, right?) with gold farmers/sellers and third party game item sales.

The SOE card game seems more like a micro-transaction type game instead; which, I believe, is very different from the gold sellers that spam their chat channels.  Although, I suppose when players find the cards they could sell them to the gold selling websites for resale which then would be an RMT transaction.  /shrug

They've made it very clear that you can buy the cards as well as find them in game.  So, if you're lucky enough to find the cards or buy them in the bazaar you won't have to spend a dime.  However, most people that play that game will probably end up spending the money because they won't wait for the drops.

You can loot booster packs in EQ2 and EQ, whether you play or not.  You can trade the booster packs for gear/items/money. Receiving in game rewards from a booster pack are not always a guarantee.

Again, if you don't play the game I don't see what the big deal is. In game rewards? Its fluff.

Microtransactions are RMT, just another term that the developers use to distinguish between themselves doing the selling vs a player doing the selling. If you exchange real money for an ingame item or advantage it's the same result regardless. Unfortunately there is also a trend to market preorder and collectors edition boxes with ingame items or advantages these days to increase those sales, which is also another form of RMT or microtransaction.

Let me make it really easy for you SOE boot lickers and fan bois to understand..

Gold sellers take  in game coin, and sell it for a real dollar profit to players who use it to buy in game items, usually ones they are too lazy to earn themselves....

SOE takes  in game cards, sells then for a real dollar profit to players who get an in game item that those who don't buy the cards can't get unless they get a super rare drop that just happens to have a loot card in it...

So the only real difference is that with gold sellers you are guaranteed to get the coin you buy and if you BUY the LON cards you are guaranteed to get the in game item loot card and with the dropped decks the chance of getting the loot card is rather remote....

Real Money is used to guarantee you get the item from both SOE and the gold sellers...so Real Money Transaction (RMT) takes place in both ....The DROPPED decks are there so SOE can point to them and say that there is a possibility (albeit rare) that someone who does not pay for the LoN decks can get the same item...It's plausible deniability....it's pure bull$hit....LoN is nothing more than another form of profit center  SOE has dreamed up....it's RMT pure and simple....

There ya go, you fan bois and SOE boot lickers who think SOE can do no wrong run out and buy your RMT LoN cards...or your in game coin from GMWORKER.COM....because it's all the same thing...
