World of Warcraft

What will be the WoW killer? The answer is simple, because it kills everything. Time will kill WoW. It won't happen fast, and it won't be soon but time will kill it. WoW is the "It" game right now, and it will hold on with sheer numbers for years to come. But it will not last forever. Nothing does.

I don't think WoW will die anytime in the next 15 years.  Look at UO and how far it had come.  WoW is more than 45 times the size of UO player base wise and UO is still alive and kicking it. 

WoW will have a slow painless death.  NO mmo will kill it, eventually over time it will just lose subscriptions.  I don't know if any other MMO in history will do what WoW did.  I want to think that some new game will, but I'm not even sure if Blizzard can out-do themselves with this game.

We all hate on WoW, but it comes down to one thing.  The more people that play a game, the more that complain/love.  So just be happy that WoW happened, it saved the MMO genre, whether you like it or not.

The key thing to remember is that people play other mmos because theyre waiting for another game i.e. people playing EQ2 waiting for AoC. Every game other than WoW is full of people comparing their current game to WoW or stating which mmo release they anticipate. Essentially AoC will completely kill a lot of games such as DAoC and make a *serious* dint in EQ2. WoW has hit the nail on the head, people leave WoW to take a break, wait for the next expansion or because they get banned but with the 'come back for 10 days free while your mate gets a free month' offer people dont stay away long. People will not leave WoW for AoC in an exodus.

Most ex-WoW players that pre-ordered AoC already have.

5. Wow will die with time.

I hope for the love of the gaming gods WoW does not die, but rather, give us back the players it stole. Give me back my Dark Age community when it was nothing to log on any evening and roll into Emain for a epic 8v8 battle... or even post emain days in Frontiers where siege warefare in gaming was still being experimented with and ppl would do anything for a keep door...

Give me those players back in WAR, Dark Age or where ever. I don't want to be part of a ten ton gorilla named wow, i just want my rvr back!
