So you would take time out of your Vacation to wirte a Dev Journal? That is stupied.  Wait till your done with family time to worry about work again.

Again why do they have to do any PR until the game is DONE.  I dont understand that logic?

Basicly why do they have to tell you anything at all?  What makes you think they dont care about this project?  Because they dont hype it?  Remember Vanguard and all there Hype? What did that get them.

That is a rather foolish statement.  Vanguard had a huge pre-game fanbase and had a bunch of people  buy the game.  The hype isn't even close to the reason that the game failed, it was due to the fact that the game sucked.  If anything, the hype let them get a bit of cash before people realized it sucked :P

Point is, a hype can never hurt the game.  If anything it helps, so they make money.  It is important to let people know about your game, and Darkfall just makes it seem that it is not a big deal.

The hype believe it or not got this game rushed out the door.  Because of all the hype players bought an unfinish game.  I was part of that fan based because I was hoping for another EQ1 game.  The hype helped get the game released sooner then it should have.

Without Hype not as many players would have gotten ripped off by Vanguard.

Waiting on CoS and Darkfall

You can't honestly believe the dev journals they release took them any decent amount of time to write....

No I would do it in advance before I leave.. again complete lack of commen sense.

It seems to be the foundation of what Darkfall Online is built upon. Not only do it's developers show it , but most of it's fanbase has it too... it's like a disease over there or something.

Why rush out a Journal when you can take your time after your vacation.  What do you do for a living because you seem to have no idea how a real job works.

Before I leave on Vacation I make sure to put all my ducks in a row and get ready for when I return.  I am a Systems Admin for a medium size company.  When I return I catch up on anything that changed and then I start working from were I left off.  I dont hurry up and rush something out because I am going to be on Vacation, I set everything I need up for when I get back.

Seems like you dont understand what common sense is.

The guy is just a paid Troll/Wind Up merchant. They are all just wound up because DF just get on with their jobs and ignore the lame attempts for the "paid enemy to sow discord" which theyy can't do because no one feeds them... Troll=Forum variant of a griefer just laugh and they will go away.

They can't take peoples beliefs away which is what annoys' them so much. Amusing

The reason the game was released sooner was because they had financial problems.  The hype did not help them hold the game off, but still, it is not the hype's fault the game sucks.  The fact that Vanguard isn't even good has nothing to do with the hype.

I see wat you are getting at, since people were surprised that the game wasn't as good as they thought.  That does not take away from the fact that the game wasn't good.

The fact that the game was released early did more damage than the hype.

Why would Greek Easter (Apr 27th) impede Tasos ability to write a journal for Apr 25th?

Would love to hear that one explained. It would make sense if he was talking about the May 2nd journal. Unless there is some time/space fracture Aventurine is working on and adding to the "feature" list in the coming months.

April 25th is good friday

You seem me clueless about greek orthodox eastern and Athens.  Athens is deserted  for several days  cause people leave for area of origin and visit their family.

So are you implying that Tasos waits until the last minute to write the dev journals he releases?

That would not really surprise me, but most companies would want time to review a journal before release. Most companies would have the journal written several days before it is due and in a situation like this would release it a day early. Also Aventurine is made up of people from many different cultures not just Greek and it would be silly to assume that everyone would have that entire weekend off when according to Tasos they have an impossible amount of work to do.

So once again why could they not release a journal that should have been done days before good friday, emailed by someone not a Greek Orthodox, within a company that was staffed most likely on that Thursday by SOME people?

As to the whole feature complete does not mean game completed. The game was feature complete in august of last year with a full beta build. So you are telling me that 9 months later they are even more swamped?

I am using common sense and what Tasos writes never makes much sense. The ironic thing about all of this is that I see new faces every few months, but the old cheerleaders for this game tend to fade away after a year or so. I wonder how many of the current fanboys in this forum will still be here by the end of the year if DF still is not in beta?

Do not fear death, Death will come a knocking anytime it wants.

Well I have been watching Darkfall for a few years now so I am not going anywhere.

I have nothing to lose if I wait for Darkfall, it cost me no money to wait for Darkfall, guess what it doesnt even cost me time because I am playing other games while I wait.

I wait for Darkfall because I choose to believe that a Gaming Company can bring back the heart and soul of MMORPGs and make a game for the Community not to line their pockets with cash.  Yes of couse they think about Money, it would be stupied if they did not.

If Darkfall releases and it has everything they say it will then Stand up and take notice how many other "main" stream game companies start taking steps in to unexplored realms.   They will start to make MMORPGs of every type for all the Millions upon Millions of different players.  What WoW did was Good and bad for the industry.  The Good is it put a huge spot light on the Genre and the Bad is now every dick tom and jerry Game company is trying to make the NEXT WoW, plain and simple, their will never be another game like WoW ever, well you should never say never but understand that most game companies can make a good profit from 600,000 to 1,000,000 subs.

I am waiting on other Indie games too CoS comes to mind.  I am all for changing the genre because right now the MMORPG industry is just stuck in the mud.  The Industry needs change, it needs an Indie company to show the big dogs that something different can make money as well.  That is all the big Companies want is Money.

Atleast the Darkfall Development Team is trying something different, maybe it will fail or mabye it will be successful.  WE ALL HAVE TO WAIT AND SEE.  I for one hope it is successful and it helps move the MMORPG industy forward.

Sorry that is just my train of though, maybe I am nuts, maybe some of you bashers are right and I dont know what I am talking about and I have no common sense.

Waiting on CoS and Darkfall

Tdogskal,

I agree with everything you said and I think you are missing my point. I WANT DF to succeed. I love the concept of DF an
