Remeber the good old days when you were invited to a BETA.... you DID NOT have to pay for either the download or subscribtion untill the BETA was over?? That was the Devs way of saying "Thank You" for helping me develop my Game.....remeber ?????

If you want to pay and play a beta please do.......but what happen to the thank you from the devs....what happen to the respect to the paying customer for taking the time and trouble to put up with a buggy laggy trashy game for x amount of weeks while the Devs worked it out......

and why do they need the money during a BETA?

This "Ign beta event" is IGN's deal. If you want to get in on their deal, you have to subscribe to their services.

otherwise, either wait 'till release, or enter one of the General beta contests going on around the web.

Pay & Play if u wanna try free wait for the buddy keys :)

It seems more people that 50k want to be in the open beta.
Anything like that has happened to any of the new mmo's?

imo the way aoc are doing their beta aint that bad, atleast it gives me a chance to play - i cant exactly compete with god knows how many quick fingers... i remember dark and light, think it was 1000 keys gone in under a min? everyone keeps going on about how its not the amount of pay (7 measly dollars) but rather the principal (i pay more for trains tickets). paypal that scrap change n you could be in right now!

yes it is a total scam, and we all know it. As long as people are willing to pay for something there will be people who are glad to take your money. If people want to pay $16 for a 2 week limited beta then more power to them. People buy bottled tap water too. I don't understand that either, but I don't let it bother me. I just laugh when I see people doing it.  The only thing you can really do is not participate. I'm wating for MMO's to start charging a monthy fee to play beta. Oh wait, they already did it was called Vanguard...

Because people are willing to pay to check it out? I'll say it again; 8 dollars people. It's 2 gallons of gas. If you can't afford that, /slitwrist now.
