DOS 6.22 - fuzzy memories...

Hi. I'm looking for some advice.

I started playing WoW a year ago. Got the free trial and then bought the game. Created many characters, most of the Alliance, had fun and experimented a bit. Stopped playing and came back now, invited be a friend.

I had a night elf druid (18), a human warrior (13), a hunter dwarf  (17), an undead warlock (10) and a few other not so important characters.

Now that I'm back, I'm bored (and frustrated) with my druid and warrior. I decided to try a blood elf rogue and a draenei paladin. And with them I'm having a blast! It's all beautiful, wonderful music and fun! I tried rolling a rogue troll but got bored. Now I'm going to try a human paladin to check if it's as fun as the draenei paladin.

But I don't think it's gonna work. My question is: should I buy the BC just to play with these two new races? I tried the other races and combinations of classes but I got bored and frustrated with the time sink. But with those two new races, it seems to be all fun! Does anyone else feel the same? Will I have fun playing all the way to lvl 70 with draenei and blood elves (and their many classes)?

Thanks for the help.

Tried: MxO, FFXI, TR, D&DO, EQ1, Archlord
Played: CoX, WoW, GW, DR, AO, SWG, EQ2
Playing: nothing
To be played: AC, DAoC, Planetside, Mabinogi, EVE, PotBS, AoC, Vanguard, Ryzom

If you are going to be a rogue on the horde side... be undead.  Also, hoppinh from one lowbie toon to another won't help you enjoy the game.  I would choose a class and stick to it until at least level 30-36... also try some BGs with the class.

waiting for WAR, Aion

You will just have to level past the old content from 20-58.

I think you'll have a blast in the Outlands and once you hit 70. However, there is nothing but timesinks at 70.

That is where the game begins.

That's a very tough question.  There's really not much difference from being a Troll Rogue as opposed to a Blood Elf Rogue other than the starting area.  So the fact that you like the Blood Elf Rogue and not the Troll Rogue tells me it's not the class, but rather the starting area you liked.  But once you get to about level 20 or so, you leave the starting areas and head out into the world with all the other races, so it's pretty hard to say whether or not you'll like those areas.  My gut feeling is that you seem more Alliance oriented than Horde Oriented.  The Horde areas to me are a bit darker and less colorful than than the Alliance areas with the exception of the Blood Elf area which is actually a lot closer to the areas for the Alliance side than the Horde side.  But once you leave the starting areas for the Horde and get into other areas frequented by both the Horde and Alliance, things seem to brighten up in my opinion and not be quite so drab, so there's a possibility you may enjoy them.

So to answer your question, I'm not sure if you should buy the expansion or not.  If you just like the Dranei and Blood Elves starting zones, you will quickly find yourself outside of those zones and may not enjoy it as much.  However a lot of things have changed in the last year or so as well which might change your mind a bit about the other areas.  It's hard to really know without knowing what it is exactly you like about the Dranei and Blood Elf areas.  Some areas are definately more colorful and "fun" to be in than others and once you reach about lvl 20 there's usually a couple different choices as to where to quest so you should be able to find at least one zone that you like.

But I think you should try to pick one race/class and stick with it for a bit longer than you have.  There's a lot to see out there beyond level 20 and there's also a lot to a class beyond level 20.  You have barely scratched the surface as far as talent points and skills are concerned for a class.  You really don't get a good feel for a class until at least lvl 30 or so and have most of the skills/talents available to your class.  By switching so quickly from 1 character to another, you are not really getting the full picture of what it's like to play that character.  It's great to have alts, but almost everyone has their favorites they like to play the most.  I think if you find the one that's most appealing to you and stick with it you might not get bored so quickly.

Alright, guys, thanks for the help!

I made a human paladin and am having fun - not as much as with the Draenei paladin but better than the troll rogue when compared to the blood elf rogue. So I might stick (mostly) with the Alliance and keep saving for the BC in the future.

A.K.A
Sinhealer

My advice is if you got bored before playing then the 2 new races wont help,i suggest you look for another game as I am sure the fanboi's will agree,it is the same game regardless what class you play,The new skill"s will tide you over for a bit but you are aiming for the same place.

By the sound of it you have never really enjoyed the game so there is no point in beating a dead horse.

WoW bashers everywhere and in every topic. Others are trying to give useful advice, and there's always someone who just suggests switching game without knowing any better.

As most of the fans agree (and even the haters should admit), WoW's gameplay is actually quite diffirent depending on what class you play, compared to how similar the classes feel in many of the other MMOs. But switching from one race to another on the other hand mostly just changes the way you look and where you begind from. The game is still quite same if you are playing with same class.
