There wasn't already a year since LOTRO has been released and they're going to release a paid expansion? Isn't it too soon? People have to pay monthly, and for expansion. I know, maybe I am wrong, but look. If they release PAID expansion after less than a year of game release, I am sure that there will be more expansions, like in Guild Wars*. Isn't it irritating? You think that you are paying just for monthly gaming, but they making money also on really frequent expansions. I know, people don't need buy them to play, but most of people are worrying that if they won't buy this expansion nom, would have to buy for example all 5 expansions in future at once to see all aspects of game. Is it worth it? Uhm. I am glad that I am not playing LOTRO. *I understand Guild Wars team, because people don't have to pay monthly for playing GW, and they have to get money for maintenance of servers somehow. ;D
P.S. Sorry for my english. |

I don't feel that way at all. Moria is a massive expansion and Turbine has set this expectation since launch for the most part. In addition, the game has had a few solid free updates one being a MAJOR zone with book 13 and 14 coming as free uprades before Moria. book 13 is another major free conent update as well. |

I dont know if Lotro was your first mmo or not but many mmo's out right now have expansions where you have to buy them for the premium content. Monthly updates usually pale in comparison content wise when it comes to paid expansions. Its the way business works and at the same time its a great way to get new and old players to come back and try out the game because of the new advertising. On top of that its a great way to ensure that the current existing player-base stays interested in the game. |

Men do not quit playing because they grow old; they grow old because they quit playing. -OWH |
Originally posted by justmyself No, it's not too soon, and yes, I'm really looking forward to it. By the time it releases the game will be well over a year old. It isn't required (as you said), and if history serves as any indicator, by the time there's 5 expansions out, there'll be a collector's edition that will offer the game plus all expansions for around $40. That's how every other MMO out there has done it. Finally, you can get out of the monthly subscription plan if you want.

It's not.... one year is actually sort of the norm for MMO's. You have only played WoW I bet where Blizzard takes two years to release their first and then now only a year (see the year?). People want more content and Turbine is giving it to us... plus it will raise hype for the game again since people have been wanting to see Moria and yatta yatta. Also take in mind that LOTRO is not a heavy raid game so all the raiders are not going to be like "DAMN IT! TOO SOON!". Lot's of people are actually bored at this point, not everyone but some. |

I have just recently gone back to playing lord of the rings online. My toons are not even high enough to enjoy the free content yet. Has anyone seen the price for the upcoming expansion pack? Cant seem to find it online. I am on the fence about if 1 year is enough time to be releasing a expansion pack. I know I got sick of buying them when I played e.q. 1 |

I think the best games are WoW and Lineage II. Yes, WoW had a paid expansion, but after years of game release, and there's coming out another expansion for WoW, but WoW is a much better game than LOTRO (thats MY opinion!). And lineage II hasn't had any paid expansion since the release, and I think that's why people love L2(except of perfect graphics and gameplay). |
