Just goes to show the overall perception of people these days, they think AoC is a WoW clone (I dont see the resemblence anywhere) and I am shocked that others think AoC should copy WoW.WoW is the worst mmog ever, soo dumbed down even a trained monkey can play it.Well dumb people always like simple stuff where someone holds their hand and rewards them for breathing.

Wow you really have some serious issues, as many people that play wow you must feel like your one of the few smart ones in the world.

I must be stupid because I thought the whole point to playing a GAME was to have FUN and if your having fun then it shouldnt matter what game it is.

As long as your enjoying the game and having fun, then thats all that matters.

So, then what equal's AoC?

there is a delay on each swing, you have 3 choices of swing. Each time you swing its the same anim over and over again. abilities have a cool down just like WoW. Its like the combat model they put in with the hotbar doesn't allow for the button pushing swinging to have any impact. really man its pretty lame, the only people who will defend this game are those who've been content with the crappy game mechanics in MMO's over the past 5-6 years, or fanboi's. I really wanted to like AoC, but the developers lied. This is not the game that was promised. It feels like a single player game, with typical MMO combat, and a built in match making window for PvP. There really isn't much new here.

That was a reply to Greymann by the way.

Not to be argumentative but WoW's lore and storyline are far more well known than Conan's.  If anyone thinks about Conan anymore at all, the first thing they think of is ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER and the horrible movies.  WoW launched on the heels of 3 extremely popular stand alone RTS games with a very well developed lore and storyline that people were eager to become a part of and this was a very significant factor in its success.  Which is superior is a matter of opinion...personally I remember very fondly the books by Howard, Carter, L. Sprague de Camp, and others and am quite hopeful AoC will at least try and capture the flavor of the world they created.

Should AoC have attempted some sort of stand alone launch prior to the launch of the MMO?

Oh here we go with this stupid crap.  We're talking about VIDEO GAMES, VIDEO GAMES, VIDEO GAMES!  Not books.  This isn't a fantasy book forum.  Get it?

Haha... I'm very aware of that. I just like getting under the skin of you forumwowfanboi trolls, and yes I mean you greymann... I read half your posts and they are very anti-AoC and very pro WoW.

...and I'm just one of those annoying people that enjoys arguing

All the naysayers can keep on naysaying because funcom did one hell of a job with age of conan. Honestly they did such a good job I dont think I will ever be able to play a Point and click mmorpg the same way ever again.

Yeah.. I'm not in the beta <cry> but, from everything I've read from people that have been playing this weekend and posted has for the most part looked very positive.

Yup great PR work

but I am worried about the real game. Not the instanced capture the flag or starter areas.

"In EVE, no one gives a damn about a fair fight." - chafin

Well, I played it, and of course there are similarities between AOC and WOW, and most other pve based, fantasy role playing games past, present and future.  At no point did i say to myself, hey, this feels like WOW. OK, I lied, when i did the capture the flag matches I did get deja vu, however many games have this match type, so I guess it too is part of the genre.

Of course, its not a sandbox type, FFA PVP game, Funcom never intended it to be (you might argue they wanted a commercially successful game) however in just my brief trial I saw enough of a variation in the implementation of familiar features to satisfy me.

Seems like a pretty good game so far, looking forward to seeing some more.

Now, back to OP's original post, which had nothing to do with the title really, not sure why people bash games so hard, probably for same reason people root for or against professional sports teams with such a passion.  Answer, no damn reason at all, not like they have a vested interest in either, but for some reason they need to be passionate about their support.

Yeah.. they can be passionate about their game in their own forums.

They come over here and spew negativity because they are obviously bored with the game they like and have nothing better to do.

Surely ur greatest worries were gameplay and real time combat? these make/brake a game and since most reviewers seem to find it smooth and fun it's a good indicator taht FC are doing something right. If this is well done I see no reason why other less important (very important nonetheless) issues are gona fail. Few bugs, glitches here
