hey, I've seen the matrix online on this site for a longg time, but i never really looked into it until a couple days ago. One word, "awesome"! it comes out in november for sure. (lol, one of the few mmorpgs which actually has a certain release date) the graphics look outstanding and the gameplay seems to be one of a kind. look into it at its website, www.thematrixonline.com

My prediction: The Matrix Online is going to be released and quickly blast to the top of the charts (at least here on www.mmorpg.com), selling tons of copies, just like City of Heroes did. Also, just like City of Heroes, that market enthusiasm will fade just as rapidly. People are blown away by how awesome CoH's character creation and combat systems are... until they realize that that's ALL the game is. Make a character, beat up bad guys. Now, I give CoH it's due props because it's not just another fantasy MMORPG, but still, with just a little content, the game would be unstoppable. The same goes for Matrix Online; kudos for breaking from the fantasy grind. However, a popular science fiction title IS NOT ENOUGH to make a good game, just look at SWG. It's based on perhaps the most popular science fiction franchise of all time, and it's a retarded piece of crap, basically just Star Wars skins and recycled John Williams music draped over the same old class/level/grind system. How about some originallity?

thats funny because i just finished reading the FAQ's on the official site and they clearly state the use of many guns and yes, EVEN "Bullet Time"... -------------------------------- -------------------------------- Crazy Drunk Hindu: "Man!... Why you gotta be like that Peeler?..."

you make no sense... you complain its not going to have guns/Bullet Time, then when i tell you it does you say it "sickens" you... oh and btw... just because its not an FPS doesnt mean its gonna flop =/... i personally think its gonna be a fairly big hit (not one of the biggest... but still fairly big)...

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City was a marvelous game... except for the 3rd person gunfights. Thinking back, those were just aweful; half the time you'd get in some position where the camera was all screwed up and wouldn't point towards who you were shooting at. Then other times, it would get hung up on a nearby building and wig out. I eagerly await a full, first person MMORPG. __________ __________ |

Ok, i was talking about HL matrix mod, did you ever play Action half-life too? you could dive and make great acrobaties in fps, i was refering to this when i said 'what's matrix without bullet time, weapons , and diving behind cover IN A FPS CONTEXT, sheesh , read between lines. It might not be a flop , but i lost interest into it, totally, that's my opinion.
BETA TESTED : Everything sorry if i misunderstood you there, but i still dont quite get what you're trying to say... -------------------------------- -------------------------------- Crazy Drunk Hindu: "Man!... Why you gotta be like that Peeler?..."

I think that "bullet time" in 3rd person could be fine if the devs doing Matrix Online take a look at a great game called Max Payne, (not that their bullet time system should be exactly like that, but for inspiration). I always think its unfair to say that a game is going to be crap before it comes out. I think if MO can bring new things to the table "combat" wise, it will do good throughout its career, I mean it doesnt have to worry about developing a storyline, since it has a strong one going anyway. |

Sorry guy, but MO does not have a release date. It might have an intended release date. Every major MMORPG has had an announced release date heheh. But until the game actually releases, until players are actually playing it, it is still in vaporware stage. Unlike SWG, and WoW, MO will not further expand the player base in the MMORPG industry. It will end up trying to cannibalize existing players from AO, SWG, and maybe EvE. There is no real fanbase around the Matrix movies. BTW the movies are very loosly based on the real life Matrix book series. Matrix V is the most recent book. (In fact, I'm half way through reading it heheh.) "Fans" of the Matrix book series are definatly NOT gamers. LOL! They are people questioning real life polics, world events, etc... IMHO Matrix Online will fail. It will be lucky to make it to release. It will not make it past 1 year of release. I do not say this out of dislike for the game. I say this after looking for any angles MO has for it vs the state of the rest of the MMORPG market. The only thing that might "save" MO is coming up with as many new game features, and game mechanics, that are differet than what other MMORPGs have and offer. ========================= Star Wars Galaxies: More games: EVE Online !!! |

A scam is something in which you the customer lose. A scam is something in which the scamer from the getgo intended for you the customer to lose. A scam gives the customer zero chance to get or recieve what they are told they are getting. No MMORPG on purpose intends to jerk customers. MMORPGs give FREE trials. Play the free trial to see if the advertised features actually are in the game. If you knew about this you would not have to play $15.oo to subscribe, or $50.oo for the game box. And one never ever goes by what reviews on game sites say. No matter it the review is negative or positive. In the case of MMORPGs the only question to ask is - is it successful enough that it will be around for 1 year to 5 years from now? Next, you can always cancel your subscription if you dislike a MMORPG. IF you do find out you dislike a game or MMORPG, it does not mean you got scammed LOL! It means it is not for you. No game will ever please everyone. ========================= Star Wars Galaxies: More games: EVE Online !!! |

I agree that the 3rd person gunfighting in GTA: Vice City was horrid to say the least. But if it's done right (like in Oni) 3rd person can be cool for gunfights too. So it don't need to be 1st person to have good gunfighting. How will they do it in The Matrix Online? We will have to wait and see. |

I like how some of you say that the game is going to suck when you have no clue how good it'll actually be at retail... |

Didn't this came close down or something? I played it back when it first came out, was fun but got really grindy 10++ The mission system was really fun, and I loved being able to swith my character's abilities if I wanted to take up a different role/harvest data. |

Ironic, isn't it? ^_^ I played it in beta... the last patch before release I recall being upset for some reason, and decided not to buy it on release... forget why though. =\ "There is only one thing of which I am certain, and that's nothing is certain." |

Well CoH is still with us and MO has folded, so he is not replacing the Oracle in my eyes. ;) |
