Read the FAQ, game sounds like a breath of freshair after playing orcs/elfs/hobbits or a flying around in a space ship for last few years.

Hope they get the funding they are after, damn.. if i win lotto id even fund them, really surprised they not got it yet.

War is not the ultima ratio, but the ultima irratio - Willy Brandt

Switching to a different setting doesnt change anything about the game mechanics itself.

And I prefer to get my darkelves, thank you very much.

I could go for a western-themed MMO, myself.

"Free crack and everybody gets laid."

Nice idea for a mmorpg.  I would try it even if it was from a small publisher.

It would be like Oregon Trail mmo :P

"We''re not making a game for Trekkies" Daron Stinnett, Perpetual Entertainment

Yep, awesome concept.  Best feature of all, perma-death.  Combine that with a bounty, judge/jury system for criminals, simply speechless.  I really hope they get funding.

What MMO release in 2008 lost half its player base in the first month after massive hype of non existent features?" ed2099

"What is Age of Conan? ... Correct, for $50, Ed!"

Currently MMO hopping as I seek a new addiction. Awaiting: Fallen Earth (and a few others)

I also keep an eye on this game and keep hoping some rich western-fanatic will dump a twenty million or so on it    I continue to be surprised there isn't a western MMO on the way. It seems to be an excellent genre for a game especially if it was skill based rather than class based. I would love to take part in building up a small shanty town to a bustling boom town. The crafting/ecnomy side could be a ton of fun, as could PvP between townfolk and outlaws.

I'd better stop now before I give away all my secret design plans

''Silence is golden and talk is cheap. I''m poor, so make with the discussion.''

The old-western setting is sort of limited. No magic, no high-tech... I guess you could get away with steam punk, though.

I'm personally sick of the setting; I got my fill from Gun, Odd World (the Stranger), and all those movies that leave an uncomfortable dusty feeling in your throat after you watch them.

I wish those hopefuls the best, but I'm just not into that setting.

Don''t mock me my friend. It''s a condition of mental divergence.

I think there are plenty of options and variety in a western game.

The problem I forsee is, what is there to keep players from traveling outside the basin, say west to California or east to New York,  maybe north to the Yukon or south to Mexico.  The only way I can think of would be invisible walls, which I never liked in games.

Invisible walls or 4+ additional years of mapping and testing...

If this project does get off the ground, they might start with invisible walls and eventually release expansions and updates that add more to the landscape.

I don't think dieing of dysentery would be very family friendly if you had to watch it.
