ok i figured out how to get it started, change the start up res to 1024x768 on userpreferences but once i get in-game and try to change it BLAMO i get the blue screen again.. i would use another res but no other res really works on my monitor, it ends up either streteched and f'd up looking and cut off

What is the exact model of your LCD and what is the optimal resolution for it? Set it to the optimal resolution and it should be fine... unless the video card does not support it.

The hi res client required some decent display card to run.  If you are not sure, try the normal client, it should work for lower tier cards.  Even if your display card can display the hi res client, you need to be sure your monitor can do it.

Your ATI card is not the best, that I know.  The 24" LCD should be OK.  I used an ATI 1950 and it works.  I only have the 19" samsung LCD that also works.

The high res client has absolutely zero to do with the game not displaying properly on a monitor. High res in this case means high *texture* resolution. The only thing that it influences is the game performance due to VGA card memory. If you have 256MB or less on your VGA, card it will swap more than with an 512MB card, but that's all. It would still be displayed exactly the same way.

It looks much more like an out of range issue, but if you say you played the beta with the same res, then it's pretty weird. Tried the latest drivers yet? Also, what is you OS?

forever we will remember, forever forgotten it will be not.

Your problem is just that your monitor, you are putting it at a max resolution that your monitor can't handle. If you can you can load it at a different resolution do that, keep going up until it no longer supports then you will know the max resolution for your monitor.
