Perfect World is a grinding game!!!! yes from level 1-30 its all quests but after level 30 the quests do not completely level you anymore and once you hit level 60 they quest just almost are not worth doing. By the time you hit level 80 you get about 1 quest per level and 3% an hour grinding. I know this because I myself have a Perfect World account and recently quit because of the grind. Now looking throught the LFgame fourms I see all these people recomending Perfect World if someone doesnt like grind.

I downloaded the game. For an asian MMO, I gotta say THANKS for providing WASD and point and click control. See, I knew it wasn't a difficult thing to do. Now if only other asian MMOs would follow the same route. However, once I went into the first city and saw the player made shops as little floating cats (I think), I left the game. I simply don't like a gaming world where each city is cluttered with player owned shops. At the very least, make them look like little stalls. Why fat looking cats that just float there? Why have them all over the place? Talk about killing immersion. It is just like any other asian F2P mmo. Go to a city and see dozens upon dozens of people sitting there "selling" items. Are these people real or bots? Why are asians so content to play along side with bots? Asians seem to be more accepting of games and fantasy unlike us here in the West. But, how come we take our fantasy more seriously than they do? They spend all this time creating these worlds and then fuck them up with such un-immersive features like: anime art style, bots, point/click movement, littering cities with player shops, and over-the-top combat animations (sorry, I don't want to feel like I'm playing Street Fighter in my MMO). Currently playing: No MMOs. They all suck. |

Originally posted by MChavez I'd have to disagree with you. The shops create immesion. They create the idea of a hustle and bustle as players go from shop to shop. They also speak to a very active economy as sellers can take advantage of fluctuations in the market place so that it ends up being a very aggressive economy. that coupled with (most likely) the shouts of people selling their wares and you get... a city! |

I enjoyed the heck out of Perfect World. For people who want customization - this MMO has more customization of avatar look than I think any other game could have. I was able to make my Werefox look like a half fox/half human in the face because I could adjust the length of the face, the nose, the size of the mouth, etc. It does have some classes restricted by sex. I have not gotten to a very high level in it. I enjoyed the travel a lot! And I loved the fact that you could try to craft all crafts and not have to settle for any certain skill. |

I dont understand why this post was moved to the perfect world fourms I posted it so that people who did not play perfect world would not be mislead I did not post in the perfect world fourms and the reason can not be because it was a about perfect world because there are at least 100000 posts about WoW in the pub everyday Currently Playing:nothing Have Played: WoW GW LoTRO Last Chaos Maple story 2 Moons Lunia Perfect World Archlord Silkroad FFXI EQII Vanguard Age of Conan |

Quests move you along quickly early on.Not sure what happens later. They need to have some territory wars for low level players IMO. |

Originally posted by sfwtboy Judging from the list of games you have played, you seem to enjoy grinding lol...
All MMO's are a grind, when will you realize that? Regardless of how the grind is presented, your still grinding(quests to grind, go here and kill 10, go there and bring 10 back, Grind PvP matches, Grind reputation, Grind for crafting mats, etc. Repeatedly killing monsters to level is grinding. What way do you see to level up and get money and gear that isnt a grind? If you say quests your wrong. Quests is grinding with a purpose and back and forth travel grinding. Once you have this mindset you wont care. So in saying that, if you take away the "Grinding "aspect of any MMO and look at all the "features" and "fun" stuff you can do in the game, PW rivals what WoW has to offer and is on par or better than EQ2. How can you ignore what some other posters have said about the positive and fun features that are in Perfect World? You are just like everyone else it seems...bored and waiting for AoC, so of course your not gonna like anything until AoC. I could understand your frustration if this game was old. But its new for us in the USA/English speaking community and the servers are full of new players, which should make exploring and grinding the content out enjoyable becuase you will make friends to level up with and challenge each other. I mean what other MMO lets you ride your land mount on top of your flying mount? None that i can think of and its damn sexy.

The engrish thing never bothered me that not why I dont like the game No I dont have a problem with grinding I mean I got to level 82 that takes some grinding. But everyone says to play this game becuase its quest based but its not it just is at the low levels. Also the main reason I left and dont like this game is it is completely run by malasian people and everything is at horrible times for americans which I lived with waking up at 5 am on a saterday to go to Territory Wars also the big malasian guilds own alll the terriories on both Delphi and Oracle and no other guilds will team against them because any guild worth being in on either sever is malasian. I was in the only guild that wasnt malasian and was big which was memoire which later became intensity which later became Helios and once Helios was made it was also filled with malasaisns. Also there really isnt that much high level content with the dungoens being only every 10 level and it taking almost 2 weeks to get a level it can get pretty boring. Lastly another big factor was heirograms which become a requirement (espeacially for me I was a mage) after level 60 it become really hard to level without them and imposssable to do thing like HH or dungoens with out them (for those who dont know HH is the place to get good weapons and amor which are those green weapons all the higher level people have) Also with the company running perfect world sponsering a gold selling site that makes the economy screw up. Lastly the lack of content updates I was playing that game from day one and in the time that I was playing I quit about a month ago there was ONE patch that is horrible espeacialy senice this game is already made in china it should not take 5 months to get 1 patch and they still have yet to patch the games senice I left. So those are my reasons for not like perfect world Currently Playing:nothing Have Played: WoW GW LoTRO Last Chaos Maple story 2 Moons Lunia Perfect World Archlord Silkroad FFXI EQII Vanguard Age of Conan |

I've enjoyed PW to a great extent, although I will probably stop soon. It definitely does get more and more grindy-heavy as you progress in levels, but there are some casual quests you can do to continue to level without grinding (or at least not grinding much). However, I'd say for the first 50 levels or so, there are enough quests that you can solo through without heavy-grinding. Unfortunately, the number of quests that are new each level beyond then grow fewer and fewer so you end up doing the dragon quests over and over again. There are some very clever and interesting design decisions overall and I think it is quite worth investigating for at least 50 levels or so to see what they have done. They also have some excellent models in the game - even as I advance into the upper levels, there are new and different fx and meshes to enjoy. So I'd say it's worth playing overall for at least some period of time, to compare it to the mechanics of other games that are around or are coming out. And although there is grinding, it's nothing like Silkroad, FFXI or other grind-intense games. |
