The overview page says it all to me.  It's way too much information to be taken seriously; way too many firm promises that no serious developer would make.  It's glib and talky, compare it to all the other developer statements, which are cagey and cautious.  I have no inside info, it just feels phony.

Plus they spell "prestige" wrong repeatedly, which seems pretty silly... spellcheck, anyone?

"Prestige" IS the correct spelling (at least in UK English).

Is there any other?

I have both Word and Firefox set to UK English and they both report "Prestige" as being the correct spelling.

I think the US spelling is "l33t" or something

The same way it feels after reading the last few Developer Journals...

The majority of the DF fans are starting to wake up now that they have Mortal Online to follow.. which has about 100 x more credibility after only a few days than DF has after 7 years..

But I agree. The overview on this site does sound like a bunch of wide eyed amateurs spewing out every great idea they can think up without stopping to think if can be or should be done.

I'll think you'll find that Darkfall fans, just like any other fans, follow a number of games. Just because they discover another interesting game it does not follow that they will give up on all the others.

Interestingly, Mortal Online has been in development since 2002 yet has no screenshots or vids proving that it exists. They don't even have info regarding races or mounts! At least Darkfall has screenshots, vids and detailed game info to prove that it exists.

Mortal Online's "release date" next year is just there to attract a fan community that will be used by the developers as evidence that their product is worthy of investor cash. It will not release in 2009 and we can just assume that the game is vapourware until the developers can prove that their game actually exists.

lol@ the credibility statement.

What credibilaty does MO have?  The game has bee in development probably as long as DFO and yet they both have nothing to show for their efforts.

Infact im quite sure MO is a piss take from Tasos to see what peoples reactions are.  Both games seem as far away as ever.

Never thought about it like that, but, maybe it is a scam website by Aventurine to deflect some heat off of them because of how slow they are in their development cycle.  Maybe Mortal Online is DFO's real name and they've found a publisher?  Alot of different things are possible, but the oddest thing of the lot is "Tasos" being the name for the voice person for Mortal Online.  It is like Mortal Online is a spoof or something.

Either way, both games look very good.

The only difference between a Troll and a Fanboi is which side of the fence they stand on.

if nothing else, MO had $750k+ USD to purchase the Unreal 3 Engine.

...not that I trust that engine or am a fan of it.  But that's alot of money to have wasted for nothing if they're not real.
