The fact is SOE should have known when to listen, when to not listen, and consider the long term consequences, because yes, ironically many of those players who cried in the forums left the game for the very consequences of what they demanded in the first place. |

Around the time they abandoned the original CURB for the CU, SOE basically gave up on the whole original concept of the game. Which included socialization. Lots of the changes in the late Pre-CU era (shortening of shuttle waits to 1 min, getting rid of TEF, adding the market search) were put in to facilitate that. That's why I would rather play 12.1 rather than 14.1, you still have TEF, and shuttle waits are a reasonable, but not too fast 5 min.

Lets not blame casual players because I don't believe they ever played SWG. The problem is SWG was released a buggy mess and it was soooo broken the game got bad reviews and didn't have the sub base they were wanting. The game was starting to get better until Jedi got put in and then it all started going down hill from there.... The problem is SOE and LA are completly useless and had no clue how to run this game.

Back when shuttles/ships were 10 minutes, we actually got to meet people, duel them, trade stuff and have a productive conversation. I remember one day during a weekday evening about 30 of us were standing in Coronet's starport waiting for the ship, yes THIRTY and we had a conversation going- what memories.

Blix's comments about forsake fear showed that he and the rest of his Devs have no idea how the game is actually played. I knew NO ONE who took that box. I tried it myself at one point. It sucks, it doesn't do much of anything. About the only place where you can apply "mudflation" (as in something dropping over time) as he means it is in their subscriber numbers.

Man, I was one of the first MBHs on my server, doing it hard way, chasing NPC bounties on foot, pre mount and pre-player city. Took me 3 months of solid play time to finish, because of a number of game issues. Now? Instant eveything. And people still complain. Blah.... looks like No Reading Nancy got the playerbase they wanted.... |
