I think it's pretty obvious that he was asking what everyone's opinion is on which game sports the better raid system. Not which game is better or which game has a better raid.

Of course asking such a question in the EQ2 forums is most likely going to attract biased results.

And with that, my vote is for EQ2's raid system, but that also takes into account the community, the environment, the classes involved, and the general fun factor associated with it's superior engrossing gameplay.

WoW's system just seems so... trivial.

Current Addictions
EverQuest 2 (PvP)
Planetside
Dark and Light (Because sometimes you just need to fly a dragon)
Corona (Because sometimes liquor kicks your ass)

Then WOW obviously it has the biggest community and you'll always be doing raids instead of waiting for people like n EQ2. Also they have a more handcrafted feel on WOW and just more polish and quality and fun than EQ2. Plus WOW has great art and better graphics than EQ2 which has bland plastic generic graphics.

I think both raid offerings are boring, I raided in EQ2 and wow. I prefer open raid dungeons (like vg =) ), instanced raiding is not my cup of tea..

haha pretty funny *g*

You mean you can actually find enough people to raid on Vanguard? When I played that game I saw like 2 people the whole time I was playing in that barren boring world it has. The game has the worst Art i've ever seen and the worst lore and I LOL'd really hard when I heard some of the voice overs in that game.

Vanguard is what people with no talent make.

Huh???  Community has nothing to do with what is the best raid or best raid mechanics.  Try staying on topic instead of getting in your "WoW is better" pitch.

I think one of the reasons I prefer EQ2 raids over WoW is simple. EQ isn't as demanding on what specfic gear you need compared to WoW. With WoW you need almost every epic from a previous dungeon, and your in the same dungeon for weeks, even months before you can proceed to the next one. I've said it before, and I will say it again WoW is a well polished game, but EQ is the King of raid. I just like to see if players that have raided both agree, or not.

Ok, get ready for a big analysis, and perhaps a bit of a rant.

History: Started playing MMO's seriously when EQ1 launched. I had played some UO and Runescape and Meridian 59, but sparingly. In EQ1 I was co-leader of the number 1 raid guild on The Rathe server till around PoP when I quit permanently.

I played WoW and raided their content, but it was more of the same. The only real difference were the scripts. WoW is very limited because of classes and abilities. Also, their AI is horrid, it's absolutely terrible, so they have to rely on a lot of scripting to make the AI more "random" (which turns out to be an oxymoron because as soon as you figure out the script...). WoW's raiding is pretty fun and fast paced, but very easy. Tank and spank with a script. Figure out the script and it's a boring excercise of push the button, the ONE button. I know single groups that take out level appropriate WoW raids with their eyes closed, literally.

I'm playing EQ2 currently, and it's a bit better. I'm in the 2nd top raid guild on the Butcherblock server. It has better AI, and a larger range of abilities and talents to change things up. The raid designer is much better than just about any raid designer I have ever seen. 2 of the absolute best raids in ANY game are in EQ2. Extremely fun, challenging, and changes up each time. Simply the most fun I've ever had in a raid. With that said, EQ2 raids tend to be the same. There are so many raids in EQ, that they tend to repeat each other. Also, a lot of the bosses are just rehashed models. They've started using more involved scripting since EoF, but then you run into the same problem as WoW. A good mixture of the old style and scripting would be good, but they're still working on it. You'll notice this in the latest raids.

I have played Vanguard, and don't play it right now. The combat system in Vanguard is near perfect. The graphics are some of the best in the genre. The potential for the best raids in any game are there for Vanguard as the combat system is amazing, and the look and feel of the game are absolutely immense. Coupled with more abilities, and skills, throw in some diplomacy and you've got a menu for real raiding madness. It is a shame about the game and the population. It could be the most brilliant game to date, and, considering the garbage coming out, probably for a while.
