I got so much |
I admit , i am not a true Warhammer miniature player. But i often picked up a copy of White Dwarf because i enjoy looking at great looking miniatures and read great background stories. Naturally I am excited about WAR as you are. But , to tell you the truth i am quite disapointed by classes they chose for the game. Take Dwarfs... So yes , Dwarfs are about only ones that have all 3 classes that are taken straight out WH miniatures. Hammerers, Ironbreakers and Engeners. But where are the SLAYERS !? Could you do dwarfs and skip the coolest class (even featured in WAR opening cutscene) ... ok so no slayers... Take Orc Why Squig herder ? Why not Boar boyz , or Wolf riders. Even why not Goblin fanatics ? ... Empire Who the hell are Witch hunters ?!?! ... List goes on.

Well it's a thin line, if you have too many classes it's very hard to balance them all, and maybe some classes in the lore (I'm not an expert on it) weren't "cool" enough or didn't have enough potential in an MMO to be a good class. I'm sure they picked them as best they could. |

Witch Hunters are the stealthers. But basically im more conerned with how they play rather than what they are. It looks like a split right down the middle in number on one side you have one type and the other side you have the exact opposite of the first group. There seems to be little or none variation, all that ends up is a mirror image. Then again you run out of ideas when there are many classes. |

Afaik slayers were very rare, and introducing them as a playable class would kinda screw with continuity. |

Originally posted by tikovoo Well, if you're talking about classes on one side having a counter-class that excels at killing them on the other side (not sure exactly what you mean) then that's a very good way to balance them. But it does get harder the more classes you have...but then again, Mythic has learned from DAoC which has the most classes in any game I've played. Trying to get the key balance between them all was hell lol. |

I have seen another topic somewhere about the Dwarf Slayers, why they arnt in. And some people came up with some good reasons. And about the squiq herder, I would think that to have Boar Boyz or Wolf Riders would not work, since I dont think that mounted combat is in the game. And both those use mounts in combat, which would destroy the lore there aswell. But I also think that witch Hunter could have been something else. Since they are those who cleans the corruption of evil, a group of devoted soldiers. And to have thousands of them running around would seem a bit strange, since what I would belive they arnt that many, unless everyone in the Warhammer World would be located in one place. But all the classes have been aproved by GamesWorkshop. So I dont think that this will be a bad thing anyways. I just hope that these classes wont bring down the whole Warhammer feeling. ^^

Mythic also likes the implement classes with expansions, as DAoC showed us. So, though there may be a few classes now, more will *probably* be implemented later. Will have to wait and see. I was never a tabletop fan but the classes still seem appealing :o |

Honesty is the best policy, but insanity is a better defense. |
I am not an expert at warhammer lore, but I do know that the universe is huuuuge, so naturally choices have to been made. Mythic wanted diversity across factions and from the looks of it they got just that. We all have our favorites and with IP as huge as warhammer's there is no way to satisfy everyone. Besides the fact that your favorite class/unit didn't make it to the game it does not mean that you won't see it down the road in some expansion. :) PS. All that being said, I would have loved to see slayers in game (even as npcs). :) |
