Read a similar article on IGN yesterday. They are not making a fall out mmo yet, they still have not got the license off of Bethesda. Apparently they said to their investors it is a large possibility that the Fall out mmo could still never happen.

They have plans to license other I.Ps as well like Earthworm jim, MDK, and some others. Right now though they do not even have funding to do any of that and have announced they may sell current properties as well as takes loans out to fund themselves.

When the original deal went down, Bethesda gave Interplay a finite amount of time ( 2-3 years ) to get the funding and get in full development, or the mmo part of the license reverts to Bethesda, to join the rest of the Fallout IP which Bethesda bought from Interplay. That time is almost up. So, basically, Interplay is floundering in the water hoping an investor will bite before they lose the last real license they hold. Interplay fails to make the Fallout mmo, they fail completely. And they know it.

I'd prefer bethesda with all their budget to make a polished and good mmorpg over what would be interplays buggy low budget mess anyways.

Totally agree with ya there, bud. When Bethesda releases Fallout 3, we should get a good idea of how good an mmorpg they would be able to make. I have faith in Bethesda, anyway. No faith at all in Interplay. Their time came and went a long time ago.

I don't really have much faith in Bethesda.. Not after what they did to Fallout 3.

The more I read about it, the more it appears to be "Oblivion with guns  - Brotherhood of Steel 2", not Fallout 3.

Brotherhood of Steel wasn't an rpg, so no comparison there. In fact it shows why Interplay deserves to lose the license.

And how exactly would "Oblivion with guns" be bad? Full 3d world to explore, awesome graphics, rpg with first person perspective, as well as Bethesda has shown that both a real-time combat system AND a points-to-move system such as Fallout 1 and 2 had are both incorporated, so nothing has been lost from the original series.

I don't know, sounds good to me. Guess we'll wait until it's released and find out.

Post-apocalyptic setting, radiated mutants, one big ass skill system to choose from, a hell of a sense of humor, and to top it all off, Ron Perlman. What was there not to like?

War. It never changes.
