Hm.. im currently playing wow.. well not really, since my account was hacked 3 days ago, but continuing:
I like WoW.. since i started to play it, i discovered all there is to discover in PRE-TBC, and pretty much Owning content in TBC.
I dont even explore new zones anymore , cause the content is all the same, with different looks.
Even if Aion doesnt deliver, coming back to wow is a bit out of the equation.. i think WoW lifespan has ended, the new Subribers they have are in Asia, where the game launcher later. |

I belive that Earth and Beyond lasted 2 years and i put 6 months into it to watch it die... Today i still belive they sold the servers to World Of Warcraft.. 2002 was the end of E @ B so thats just my feeling.. Im just sick of World of Warcraft ! Same old stuff, i have to say if they pull some of the players money out there walets and give players what there looking for they still have me and others like myself stay and prase them... But no they dont care about Change, its all the same next 10 levels ! War and AOC is working hard to not become that same old WOW Grind Mill ! From what i can see.. |

I believe that AoC and War are gonna go pretty much like LOTRO has gone. They will have their fare share of fans and will be fairly successful and will even get a number of WoW subscribers to switch, but I doubt it's gonna offer enough to make the majority of WoW players switch. I tried the beta of LOTRO and while I enjoyed it, it didn't really offer anything to me that I couldn't already find in WoW. I already had a huge time investment into WoW, so the thought of starting all over again in a new MMO just wasn't that appealing to me. There's a good number of people that crave something new and will switch and most will probably not return, but WoW will keep enough people to continue on. What's more is that I believe that a few people leaving WoW won't necessarily be a bad thing for WoW. My gut feeling is that some of the folks that have been complaining the most about WoW will leave and perhaps some of the stuff that some of the rest of us have been hoping Blizzard will change will finally get recognized. About 90% of what WoW has to offer is just fine with me, but I'd still like to see some changes. Professions for one in my opinion have not changed much since the launch and I'd really like to see some major changes there to make it easier to level, more profitable and more useful to the casual player. Professions are one of the most overlooked aspects of the game in my humble opinion and Blizzard won't do anything to change that until there's a lot less screaming going on in the forums about Raiding and PvP. Crafting, not PvE nor PvP is the truely forgotten feature in WoW. |

I'm taking a break from wow as it is. But that break would extend even further if a new game (AoC, WAR, whatever) were to really step up and deliver. Depending on what else is announced with the WoW expansion, I would consider checking that out. I am just not sure that 1 new character class and a new area will really deliver enough new content in the game to really pull me back in. The biggest thing that AoC and WAR have going for them at this point, they are different from WoW and one another. As WoW advances in age, other games will look more and more attractive by default because they are unlike WoW and offer a 'change of pace'. I doubt WoW really wants to change their formula to try to keep pace with those changes... unless they spin up WoW2, of course. So players will migrate and want to play other games for no other reason than WoW will become old hat. I know that I really enjoyed playing WoW. I don't have much to say about WoW that would really be all that negative. I played the game from 1-70 multiple times, experience end-game PvP, end-game RAIDs, etc.,... I just grew increasingly more tired of the BG's and RAID's each time I ran them... for a few pts of faction/rep that bought me a few stat pts here and there. If/when WoW figures out how to do away with that type of end game scenario in their game... they might figure out how to extend their run as #1. (Honestly, I would just go ahead and say WoW is #1-25 on the MMO charts. Gnomes holding that 25th spot, of course.) |

WoW doesn't have a solid core dedicated player base... WoW has a player base with few alternatives.
What's released since WoW came out? EQII (actually launched first but hey...) COX Vangaurd Lotro and a smattering of other games, Matrix OL...
None of these games has been solid, sure EQII pulled a miracle turn around, but it isn't everyones cup of tea (who wants to buy an expansion every 6 months?)
Blizzard is finally going to have competition. AoC wants to be great, but I'm really not sold on that X360 game being a major market player. WAR hammer on the other hand, when it launches, you'r egoing ot see three things happen:
1. EA Matures, and backs the game 100%. They'll finally "get it" and give WAR the time and money it needs to grow. 2. A REAL no kidding competitive game to WoW, that while on the outside feels a little like WoW (familiar UI system for example) the mechanics and more mature gameplay and darker story lines will enthrall many players. Plus all those other "little things" that WAR is doing that WoW cannot. Quest reqards that matter to YOU.. no more plate to a clothie for example, the Tome of Knowledge.. no more killing 50 bears en route to a quest giver only to have said quest giver tell you to go kill bears.. I think it's going to have a solid impact. 3. WOTLK not beat BC's launch.
I firmly believe that WoW's numbers will still break 7 million by Jan09, but WAR will be over the 1,000,000 by Christmas morning. |

Even if WAR doesn't succeed straight away, it's possible it could become a cult hit and grow like EVE online has |

Players have grown very tired of WOW now. Many are looking for a way out of the game and tbh it seems like the devs are doing their best to make that happen. Its a decent game but the conept has burned out. Next 10 lvls will not bring anything new. All the content will be pretty much the same. THe one single extra ability for each class will not make players happy. And as far as one new class..... How great is that for creating perfectly imbalanced expansion ? No thx - Blizzard have lost it. It's only question of time when ppl realise it. But more and more are seeing it and know this game has nothing more to bring in terms of paying subscriptions for it. |
