You have to look at it from a corporate point of view. If this was EQ2 SOE would get rid of the hack and possibly sue like they are now. That is because their making a good amount of money from EQ2 to do so. With PlanetSide that is not the case. The game probably is floating between 7,500-10,000 subs right now. SOE is making profit from the game but not to the point where it can do both. The Dev team already is short handed and is working on content for the game currently, so their busy. Instead SOE decided to go the legal system route. Blizzard or any other company would do the same. Corporations don't have the heart to do such tasks if there won't be any pay offs for it. Therefore your arguement is null. WoW has millions of players as opposed to PS thousands. Blizzard has plently of money to throw around. I'm still shocked SOE is even bothering to do anything about it to be perfectly honest. |

Even with 1.5 million dollars of revenue that may not be enough. Between having to pay the development team and wanting to have a good enough profit. PS is at the stage where its only staying online because they can still make probably about 50%-70% is my bet. My guess is that they figured a lawsuit message would do the best out of what any programming could do to fight The lawsuit message would remain there as opposed a constant fight with through programming. The programming route is probably more expensive and would need to stay there till the game finally was cast aside. SOE just doesn't see it from a profit stand point to do such a thing. If you actually think Bilzzard or any other company would do such a thing like with PS, you probably need a reality check. This is Corporate America we're talking here, not your local bakery run by a old lady. |

Aha! they are suing the web host of someone who is posting exploits. Meh, hacking does no one any good, the webhost should take it down on their own accord. |

That doesn't mention SOE anywhere in the article. Besides that SOE just recently started working more closer with Sony. They really just had the name stamped on them as far as I know up until then. |

Well considering adding content and adding code are completely different not surprised their havign this problem. they could have a team of 40 designers on the game if they don't have coders they can't do squat about it. They've been working with content tools for quite a while to add everything thats been added lately.
Its probably actually cheaper for them. Get their law team to file some lawsuit against the hosts, hosts figure its too much trouble and jsut drop the people puttign up the hacks. Money wise, why hire a coder and add them to them the when they could at least slow down the problem by having someone do somethign thats already on the payroll. they also might be thinking a little more long term. Like getting the more popular areas that the hacks are found shut down THEN patching it. |
