Wow, I never realized just how sensitive DF fans were until this post.  I'm not so sure that open world PvP and KOS is a good idea for this game.  If they can't take a few paragraphs that poke fun at or criticize the game, how are they going to take being ganked??

And all I was saying in my post, was that this kind of sentiment comes from all sides, because someone in this thread postulated that AoC fans are the ones responsible for that, which is, as such, not a true statement.

 

And that person continuing to post leaked old Beta-Video's, this discussion isn't about this. So quit it already (and yes, a video from 2007 is, in game-developer terms, old).

And while everyone tries to simply use "blood and boobs" as some type of fallacy, I've yet to see any AoC fanboi show how the game has any real depth to it.

Even the latest leaked guardian and bear shaman videos show much of the same.  You stand, you click the mouse, GF.

If you have a video of some actual PvP that involves more than spamming clicks and actions, please post it.

It is better to have shown nothing bad, than shown something horrible.

So where would I get a video of the "current" state of the game? Not even leaked Beta-Video's (which I would not post), could give you an accurate "current" build idea.

As for proving the game has depth....how can you -prove- anything at this point in production, hm? Of -any- game? Go on and prove to me that DF has more depth. Prove it. Or WAR? Or maybe Earthrise! Or Chronicles of Spellborn? Come on, some proof please. No? Thought so.

Anyway, this thread was about an entirely different topic, which is why I first asked you to stop posting these links. It was about a certain issue between fans of the two games, not about the content (or lack thereof) of AoC.

I'm curious.  What extremely popular action/rpg game does not have you spamming clicks and actions?

Legend of Zelda, Final Fantasy, NWN, Diablo, Kingdom Hearts, God of War, Ninja Gaiden, Street Fighter, Virtua Fighter, etc.

I could go on and on.  All of these games boil down to spamming attacks and clicking actions (or performing combos), yet, millions of people enjoy the combat in these games.

Sure there's other things in fighting games like dodging, but right now, the networking technology is not there to have a true active dodging system without the frustration of lag.  The developers of AoC put in the defense shields as a substitute for dodging.

My point is, don't judge the game before you've played it.  Looking at a video of NWN or Diablo 2 I wouldn't think those games would be fun either.

Aside from being in the Conan universe, AoC has nothing going for it.  Vanguard already proved that graphics are nothing, so what exactly are we looking at?  You still have levels, PvP is still restricted, instances, classes...

 

Jeez, sounds a lot like WoW with blood and boobs to me. 

I'm no AOC fanboy, but AOC has one thing going for it over Darkfall. Like it or not, good or bad doesn't matter.

AOC is an actual working title and being released, period.

Bad mouth it all you want, but hundreds of thousands of people will at least be having a good time while you guys are waiting for the greatest game since slice bread to materialize.

Why are you so bitter? You don't seem to like any game out there quite frankly. Well... That's not a good way to be. In the end they're simply just games, so learn to enjoy them for what they are.

Perhaps you need to establish a real life.

P.S. At least wait till AOC releases and you get a chance to play it yourself before informing the world that it will fail. Geez.... You haven't even played it nor seen it.

Yet you just pound and pound a game that's actually releasing, because it's NOT AS GOOD as Darkfall. And a game you HAVEN'T even played, LOL! Are you serious?

There is NO Darkfall.

Until at least a semi-working alpha build is proved to exist and someone plays it, there is NO actual game. Not just ideas, cool features and "some" code strewn together with basic graphics, but a working (even buggy would be a plus at this point) alpha build.
