Ok, so I just bought the game (found it in the box for $20). Right now the game is patching and im looking on one of the VG wiki's at the classes and races. I know if there is alot of the same class in an MMO then it can be difficult to find a group. My question is: 1. What is the most played race? 2. What is the most popular class?
Thanks. |

I might be going out on a linb here but I don't think there is a "most popular" anything out there. Play what you like. Each continent is designed to be self contained and to be honest with you the pops on each continent look to be fairly well distributed, at least on the EU server. Why would you want to play the "most popular" in a game that has19 races and 15 classes anyway? Play what you like. Thats just me though. If you want to know what race is best for what class look here and read about each one in the creation guide in each class. Even then there is no "best", it really depends on how you want your toon to turn out or your playstyle. You really need to read into it. I also don't think that there is a class / race combo that would be completely gimped either. Some races are definately better but that doesn't mean you can't do it. I'm not 100% sure on that though. you are talking about a LOT of race / class combos.
EDIT For example here is the the stat table for Necromancers. As you can see there are a lot of combos to take into consideration for this class alone. If you felt VIT was your primary concern then Goblin is probably the best choice however that not necessarily true for everyone. If you were more concerned about the benefits of Wisdom or INT then there 2 completely different races who are better choices.... Or you could just say screw it and go with a different race that you like...a Dark Elf would not make a bad choice in the case of the Necromancer. So its not as simple as "who is most popular". But if you are really worried about it just make an Elf of some sort. There are elves everywhere, like a plague. They need to make an MMO just about elves....

Start a Goblin or Orc... BEST starting area Lore in the game IMHO. But, you have 8 slots to fill with alts, try a lot out. Every race and class is so different, its actually fun making alts in this game. |

My fav class was Disciple, because its so unique and he is quite capable of dealing with unexpected difficulties with his skills. I miss that kind of class in other MMOs. Fav race.. hm, BEFORE the face nerf it was Qualitarian or what they were called, rly good looking. Goblin and Orcs have the best lore in their starting areas, but first I dont like to play greenlings (playing games so long as I do I am sozialized to see greenlings as targets, forever. ;) ) and as I see it the new starter isle will nullify it all soon anyway. |

Your rule "popular classes dont get group" is wrong in Vanguard. As long as one plays Tank, Healer, or Bard, there is no problem with getting a group. Only dps classes can be troublesome in this respect. The only exception are: Rhaz Inkur (level 50 dungeon) - Monks are in high demand, as only they get any CC (separate mobs with Fake Death) here. Also Wolf Shaman, because they are the only kind of Healer that can sneak, which again is the only kind of invisibility that works there. Raids - here the rare clases are really in demand. Especially Monk (again, separate mobs with Fake Death), Blood Mage (can take away 15% of damage dealt to tank) and Necromancer (can give tanks a huge HP boost through their Necro Meat).
Most popular are Cleric, Ranger, Shaman, Dread Knight, Sorcerer, Necromancer - last time I checked who's online. And about races, well, when the game was new, the most popular was Darkelf. But that was probably because all the light elf fans where distributed over 3 races (Highelf, Woodelf, Halfelf) and the human fans where distributed over 6(!!!!) races. Nowadays you can no longer use the character search of the official website to get most popular classes and races, because most characters you get that way will be inactive.
