As a counterpoint to the constant flaming on vanguard here in mmorpg, positive threads on vanguard suggest that other point of views exist http://www.fohguild.org/forums/mmorpg-general-discussion/33629-vg-current-state-vanguard-6.html and from the official forum http://forums.station.sony.com/vg/posts/list.m?topic_id=30047

Some people obviously havn't played quality titles, if you play single player and normal multiplayer games from 2007 and then look at the mmo genre, you wodner why the hell you ever bothered lol. Vanguard is a buggy lackluster mess with a horrible art style and a lack of cotnent or a sub base and yet people subscribe to it because theres obviously hardly anything better in the genre lol. Going to wait to see if developers like Bioware and bethesda can save what once was a genre with a bright future. One great step towards this is getting rid of John Smedley because he's obviously shown us he can't manage the quality or lack of quality of SOE's titles with every single one of them being a peice of crap. I mean ruining the EQ name and making it a laughing stock because of how they ruined it and then even more hurt to the name was making EQ2.

Then please go ahead, pin point the persons in the threads who havent played a "quality title" and name a "quality title" and argument why you think the suggested title has quality. Assuming Bioware and Bethesda (don't you remember how buggy daggerfall was) could produce a quality title is very "hypothetical" |

From his argument, I would guess he's talking about such "quality titles" like WoW. I mean, come on ! How many million customers do they have now ? 9 ? Sure that must be a high quality game ... just like Diablo 2. |

The point is, mmorpg players are heterogeneous in their taste, some play WOW alone, some play WOW and other games, some avoid WOW. I even have played WOW. And in spite me have playing WOW, I really enjoy Vanguard (also LOTRO). From your argument, everybody who has played wow wouldnt enjoy vanguard in its current state. Nevermind though, Its all a matter of taste and we have many options. |

WoW was 5mil sold before it even came out. Blizzards reputation for delivering finished and fun games paid out well for them. WoW is good, but in the long run, its washed out just like any other MMO. |

I enjoy Vanguard. SOE is making great strides in cleaning up Brad's mess. By GU5 this game should be where it was supposed to be at launch. It is not much different than most MMO's there are good points and bad points. Some of the questing is fun and entertaining some of it is just get the damn thing so you can get the rewards type. The biggest problem I see is there is a LOT of content at the lower levels that is skipped due to few players being around for grouping. While there is plenty to solo and lots of quests to do without grouping, you still miss this content and some backstory of what is going on in the world. This tends to water down the whole experience into more of a level grind. The good thing is, if you are interested you can generally go back to those areas at a much higher level and go through the quest lines to read the backstory. While you will not gain xp you will at least see and read some interesting tidbits into what is going on in the world. Diplomacy too brings in some of this backstory as well. Although it and crafting just make my eyes bleed! |

It's true that people don't really start to group until 20. I think it's mostly because there are a ton of starting areas. |
