Teala, Your right when your right, but isn't also fair to state that NDA's are more than what you'd mentioned? It, too, is about protecting a potential player base from setting their hearts on early aspects of a game in development, that may have to be removed, for many reasons, before it's release. It's also seen as an overall game mechanic and content safeguard for an Ip, in an attempt to protect those aspects from other onlooking game developers, for as long as possible. As for WoW's CB, wasn't it's NDA found on it's first 'accept or decline' page when entering the game along with all the other legal info.? <- Genuine question as I only toyed with it's open beta to 2weeks after it's launch, eventhough, I was invited to it's CB. I prefered to stay in SWG, for what turned out to be it's last months, preNGE. == Dinner == Anubisss, I agree, that WAR looks fun and I'm glad that they too, had the guts to push the title back for further polish and development. What's your estimate on how many times or how long they'd be able to do this before the fans and nay-sayers begin to cry foul? ...It's always best, for those that are uncertain of a title to hold out for open beta or trials before you buy, that's common consumer sense and plain 'good advice'.
To you both, I'm glad that Vanguard and DDO were able to overcome their initial release issues, over time. I CB'd both of them. My impression of Vanguard from CB to release was to push back the release date for a stable game at launch and I still think it would've been in their best interest. DDO was a different animal as it looked good, at the time, through to it's release but when the level cap restirctions were lifted and the promise of full spectrum solo play was found to be non-existent, I felt lied to. So, again, see above and the 'good advice'. My point is this; that with all the mentioned titles from the top of this post on down that were, either, utter turkeys from their launch, held little personal interest for an Ip or suffered a complete content melt-down, to have recovered(exception - WoW) and still be up and running(inclusion - WoW and total amazement at this), leaves little doubt that AoC will march on just fine. Who knows, with the same type of extra time after AoC's launch as the others have required, considering the worst case scenario of 'doom and gloom', just how good the game may become. As it stands, near the end of closed beta and with the official and unofficial released information, I feel that's it's my type of game and that it can only get better.

The king and the pawn go back to the same box at the end of the day. |
Invisible wallas are in from some of the post I been reading from the offical forums. I cancelled my 3 CE pre-orders lasnight. I will not play a wannabe mmo. Those invisible walls make a game feel like a singleplayer game to make lush and beautiful environment's around you.
Have fun prancing down your linear path's with all that open forest around you that you can't explore. |

Originally posted by Va-le That is farking obsurd to say. I have a copy or two of every mmo sitting on my shelf since Ultima Online. Im not gonna be a 30 year old prick and say WoW sucks. I feel there playerbase shows that they made a true epic mmo. Thier world is vast it has the features that all the other mmo's lacked. Sure they have a rotten childish community but Im not gonna be blind to the fact they have the top ranking mmo atm. |

Actually, i think it's even worse than Guild Wars because except for a very few zones, AoC's environments do feel like you are more likely funneled through a pipe and most of them are even smaller compared to GW. The FAQs, tricky screenshots showing vast panoramas and some interviews may suggest otherwise, but there is not much of roaming free and AoC is by no means a game for explorers and adventurers who like to get lost. There'll be alot of jaws dropping from both gamers and fans for shure. |

And zones consist of thin paths that you have to follow? And that you have only as much movement freedom as a scripted single player game? This sounds insane if true. If it's as bad as that, people will hate it. But I find it hard to believe it can be that bad.. |
