WAR (Warhammer Online)

Before reading this:  If you are a WAR fanboy who knows everything that there is to know about the game and goes around this forum flaming people who don't know as much as you, or the people who aren't quite as excited about the game as you....buzz off.  Now that the reasonable people are left:

Is anyone else bummed that as a Chaos Chosen, you cannot choose which Chaos God you serve?  I for one would not want to be a Chosen of Tzeentch and would much prefer to be a servant of either Nurgle or Khorne....Perhaps the developers feel that it wouldn't fit in with the plot that they want to develop, or perhaps they simply don't want to create different art for each of the greater Chaos Gods, but I really think that it would go a LONG way toward the game's immersion if players could choose which Chaos God their character served.

After all...why would I want to be a warrior focused on Melee who worships a God of deciet and change?  Why wouldn't I want the everlasting life and immunity to pain offered by Nurgle?  Or the pure bloodlust of Khorne?  It just doesn't make sense i tell ya

But would the Tzeenich want a whiney p***y?

Where did you see the game is DONE and that you won't be able to do this? Speculation is fun!!!

By the way...speculation IS fun...so let's talk about this little idea of mine.

Now, since I'm pretty much set on choosing either Nurgle or Khorne, I'm pretty sure I'd like my character to look like this:

Yeah I know I just copied and pasted them from the games workshop website, but you get the idea...armor patterns and skins that are modeled after the players' chosen demon, of course there would be specific traits and benefits/downfalls to each of the demon selections.  Nurgle dudes would have increased health at the cost of decreased attack speed...Khorne guys would "drink the blood" of their opponents and gain small amounts of HP when they attacked, I haven't figured out a unique downside to being Khorne yet.

Oh and there could be a unique ability that they got too other than a passive bonus...Nurgle players would recieve an AOE plague move that did damage over time to players caught in the area...and Khorne players could have a cooldown blood lust ability that greatly increased the amount of health gained by melee attacks.

Ehh, I don't really know enough, or care enough about Slaneesh or Tzeentch to think of cool traits for them.

By the way...I know that these would be overpowered if Chaos Chosen were the ony ones that got special abilities, so of cours other dudes would have abilities as well...and I know what you're all thinking "what if some players didn't get a benefit that was any good, like Trolls in WoW?"  Well if you're visiting this forum and reading this thread, you probably follow the game religiously and have lot of faith in Mythic, so i'm sure you can find it in your heart to believe in them that they will produce a well balanced game for you

It would of been pretty cool if you could choose which god but I guess I sort of understand their reasoning when it came down to the abilities that each god praises and hates.  It would of just made for some terrible player classes...Great RP mechanics though.   

I think Khorne's major downside is the fact he's pretty much against Magic Period.  (i think thats the one that hates magic).

Atleast they're not cut from the game entirely though..they have denizens and such n such so they're atleast represented.  Maybe they're going to get represented with a class or two in an expansion that would be pretty cool.  

Though I doubt we'll ever see Slaanesh since they're wanting to stay at a Teen rating..and it'll just be weird to see Slaanesh toons running around decked out in PINK! lol

I have to admit Chaos are totally freaks but thats what makes them pretty damn cool lol I can't wait to use tentacles on people with the Maurader. hehe

btw your ideas sound pretty cool..i don't have like indepth knowledge of the warhammer world..so I guess it comes down to what sort of information and rules there are the Chaos races & gods.

The more player choices (as far as character customization) the better.  So, I'm all for being able to 'choose the god we follow' in order to better fit our character class.

Is it possible that those other two may still be in development?  OR that they may be presented in the future... perhaps via expansion?

While I think it would suck to create your first character and follow a certain god, then the one you wanted released later and you couldn't switch... I don't think that type of scenario is out of the picture.  The game is at least 6-7 months away, right?  Nearly anything is still possible.

I'm just disappointed in the delay.  It's tough for me to even log in and play WoW now.  Why continue to grind away at faction there when it won't mean anything when WAR is released and/or WoW's own expansion hits?  Either way, the grind starts all over again for gear and all of that. 

Ugh.. what to play while I wait?  Conan?  lol

Nearly anything is possible...and Tzeentch would have been my third choice (Slaneesh's pink mafia just doesn't appeal to me) so we'll see what happens.

There was a video released today going around the extremely basic, and about 20 percent complete Chaos city. They had specific areas for each god and said there will be tons of content in each.

I don't want to speculate, but I think it's pretty obvious the direction they are going to go in. I just doubt it's going to effect the specific way you look, but don't be surprised if you can worship multiple gods/heroes.

if you want to look like you worship a specific god. Then design your toon, armor, colour of your armor and trophies around it. They are really stressing the ability to make your toon look unique.
