I guess to an extent I agree with you.

However, FoH had a horde setup on the server I started WoW on (first month of game).

I know they would flag themselves in certain areas and hope to walk into pbae/aoe/abilites that hit extra targets.  So they could force flag you and attack.

That was just one group that I know of.  Others with the guild tag seemed fine.

The first big "first" I remember.. was done by a Korean guild in their beta.  So I guess I never took notice of FoH getting special treatment.

Then again in EQ1 or 2.. I could care less.

I'll never have a server/world first and I'll never be the first to reach a certain level.  None of that affects if a game is fun for me.

So like I say.. I agree with you.. but the stuff with FoH you are talking about.. was either on another server.. or long after I left.

"We already have two operating MMOs. We launched a game called Ultima Online in 1997. It's still got hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Then there's Dark Age of Camelot, we also have a situation where we have well over 100,000 subscribers."

-Frank Gibeau of Electronic Arts.

Does it seem odd that UO has more subscribers than the best RvR game on the market?

Just because Blizzard makes the same mistake doesnt make it right does it?

And i dont really give a shit if its Blizzard, SOE, NCSoft or whoever, its just wrong!

Then don't play simple, and you won't be playing any MMO because it happens in every single one of them from COH to UO If you have a devloper that has any friends you can bet your ass he is giving the special perks. It's not fair but neither is life so Cowboy up and stop being so fucking emo.

It ruins the fun and competitive spirit for everyone. May this be a warning to other Devs on other MMORPG, never do that crap to your game, cause it ruins any fun and immersion to the game,

Here is a link to a post that reveal eq2 Dev cheating and leaking strategies to the top guild in eq2.

Hm....I'm not sure how you would be able to convince people to not waste time on EQ2 using your argument.  I played EQ2 at one point, I was addicted actually.  And if I saw this post back then, it wouldn't have made me want to play EQ2 more or less...since I know I'm never going to dedicate myself that much to the game where I'm making it into the top guilds.  And if this post actually does effect your decision whether you quit or not, then you really should quit.  Quit so you can start a better life instead of spending 10 hours+ a day on a game.

And regarding some previous posts, they're right.  Information leaking has always been part of MMORPGs, not just now.  It's a way to...advance the knowledge base of the players, like a little nudge when things are slow.

Devs are supposed to fix the bugs that players take the time to document and submit.

They are not supposed to ignore them so they can exploit the submitted bug for their own personal benefits.

Those who think this doesn't affect them might just want to rethink that.

What if this causes people to stop submitting bug reports because they just think the dev will ignore them and/or exploit them?  That hurts everyone.

What if this exploit was something that personally affected your gameplay and you wanted some sort of resolution from SOE.  When you go to the forums everyone is posting apathy towards the subject, because it doesn't affect them.

In the end the indifference sends a clear message to the company that this sort of thing is acceptable and eventually the people doing it will push the envelope enough until it does affect something you consider important enough to act upon.

Pointing fingers at other games and saying thing like "this happens everywhere" is a sure fire way to let these types of things escalate.

paulo, are you serious? Man, you are putting WAY too much time, effort, and emotion into this game. Everyone gets perks somewhere. I bet, if you have a friend thats a bartender, they give you free drinks and then go around telling everyone that you did so, but you don't moan about that do you because most people are adult enough not to act like whiney children stamping their feet and saying "but he's getting free drinks, how come I can't?" even though they aren't friends in the bartender.

You clearly don't understand why people are upset.  SOE is not ignoring bugs so they can exploit them; they gave special treatment to one guild by transfering characters from a test server to a live (PvE) one.  No bugs attached.

Oh for gods sake... that was months ago and this thread isn't even about that. Knock it off. Try reading the damned thread before posting.

do you understand how SMALL of a portion of people are actually affected by this? How many people compete to be the first one on a server to complete the quest only to get named recognition? A handful of people.

You guys are acting like this is a problem of -NGE/BPO BoB/Arena WoW cheater -levels

MMO doesn''t mean only Groups/Guilds/PvP gaming.
It’s many people playing *different* game styles.

Oh, god. Another Eve scenerio.

It's getting to be not if, but when devs share insider info with select guilds.

When BF2142 was having it's DICE Challenge, and teams had devs on them, they were explicit in telling players they WILL discover cheats and ban their butts. But in that situation, they were clearly labeled with dev clan tags and told the players outright the rules. That's fine, as everyone knew they were there not giving any squad an advantage (we were trying to switch teams constantly to get the dev dogtags on the other team, so could vouche there were no disadvantages).

But it's wrong when devs play and give the guild/team they're on some dev only access items or
