Google "MMORPGMaker" if you want to make your own MMORPG.

In a way it's disappointing for me because I will be at a different job and not able to really play the game if it comes out this fall.  I don't play WoW anymore so WAR delay doesn't make me want to offer that game any more $$ so I will probably end up spending time with AoC .

I had wondered how to play AoC (really play it, not just make a couple of low level toons) and then switch over to WAR in the short time between the original release dates of those 2 games. Now the industry has decided for me. One less worry served up with a small side order of disappointment.

Such is life.

Actually, I like the early levels of most MMORPGs best anyways, so I agree. Play AoC, and by the time WAR is released I'll probably be tired of it, and ready to play something new.

I heard alot of people saying the game looked ready for Q2 and no further delays would be needed. Which even I did read in the announcment. However, now it seems they are truly GOING IN for being "wow-killers". And seriously, anybody think that will happen? I suppose it could be a wow killer "to you" or "to me", but as a whole, are they not really just seeing a mirage at this matter?

See that's just it, so many people around here have really no idea what they are talking about.  If they had kept to the Q2 release, they would give them like less than 90 days to add the rest of the classes and balance them for a "PvP" MMO?   You would have to be smoking crack to think that you do that this close to release.   Balance in PvP MMO's is one of the most critical aspects of the game.   Nobody knows this more than Mythic.

However, if you think that this game is getting pushed back because of just polishing, you need to take a step back and look at this big picture.    Missing classes and balancing for PvP is a little more than just polish.  Even a turd doesn't take a year to polish.  Hopefully for everyone's sake they will make good use of this extra time.  This does help AoC because a lot of people sitting on the fence because the 2 games release dates were close may feel a bit more entitled to check out AoC even if only to kill time till WAR.

If you're still working on some of the classes, then how could you have possibly finished tweaking open RvR? I think that's going to be a very important part of the game, and obviously it hasn't even been tested with all classes yet.

Looks like a couple more months of LoTRO and Medieval 2 for me.

Atleast they will polish everything up before they toss the game out into the world.

When a game company releases a mmo on time, unfinished and buggy, the playerbase torches the company.

When a game company delays a game release to make sure it is finished and polished, the playerbase torches the company.

I'm not sure it has to. If the game is not ready, if they made errors in judgment, if they realize that certain elements don't work the way they intended then they "should" keep the game in development.

It's not a "hey, we tried, made some errors and well, we couldn't get it right... so here it is" sort of thing.

If it's not ready it's not ready.

The real problem is that it's too risky to make these games and release them with yesteryear's standards. Players won't come or will bash the game and that will be it. Players are just getting upset because they were promised something and they dev's just can't deliver on time.

To be honest, it is more clear now then ever that these mmo's are just so difficult to make that after Dark & Light and Vanguard, you now have companies who are pulling the plug on projects becuase they just can't deliver.

It's getting to the point that dev's should just not talk about their game until they know they have a completed, polished product that works with the beta testers, the dev's and that they can release shortly thereafter.

Bioware has it right by not discussing their game. Keep it out of the public eye until you are ready.

So, it doesn't matter why it is delayed. In theory they should be able to scrap the whole thing and start fresh. But obviously there is a point of no return with regards to the monetary investment.

The game is not ready. That's it. Things just didn't work out to make it amazing. Just "good". They want amazing.

Game looks like alpha stage atm , i really dont know why they hurried  to realeased it with only 2 years of development.

Wow was in the makings for 6 years , was beta for a year and a half and so on.

Aoc is in the makings for ov er 5 years now and beta a year .

Sorry but u sadly mistaken that War needs some polishing and its done.

Mark my words game needs at least a year  in order to be half descent , and they will  be delay it again. Actually hope for more delays  else you just gonna be delivered another Vanguard.

I might be one of the few that dont like Paul barnet and  it hink he has no clue  , other that sweet talks , of how  a new age pvp mmo should be.

Lastly as an up till recently daoc player im really disapointed of how things are going , and not only because of the bad graphics or buggs and such , im more woried about the current state of wars pvp , which is skilless , spammable  zerg fest.

Those posts  really dont help.

I am 5 years member of this site with 15 posts only , guess whos trolling into forums.

Btw  my job requires of me been down to earth rathen been  over optimistic without evidents.

Overoptimistic stoke brokers are those who  looses  the money and they go suicide after.

If i was EA that funds the project i would like to see results rather  dealys over delays , betas that are cancelled and a rather cluless happy Paul who thinks there is no problem at all by loosing fans  while receiving negative publicity.

hope that  they will have results soons  before Ea pulls the plug
