Yes but it s still a predetermined time, which to me = no suprise, bad implementation imo but to each their own. To say you re not fighting for something worthwhile in WAR is a little odd to me but no need to go into it. AOC is too limited for my style and time i can put into a game.

i didnt say that you were not fighting for something worthwhile  in WAR it just seems to me that there is more to fight for (especially immediately concerning me) in AoC

and while i can understand that AoC isnt your style of game (which happens) i would still see it as a surprise if i was questing and i got a message that we had just been declared war upon, forcing me to drop what im doing and go help.

thats just me everyone has their own thing. i really cant wait though both of these games are going to be fun!

God forbid I take the middle road and list the parts I like about each.

AoC -
Good: Keep construction, Guild Land 'ownership', Mounted combat
Bad: FPS, Guild Only (essentially), Time limitations, Borderlands only, only affects pvp, Instancing

WAR -
Good: FPS, Size/scope, No time limitations, Faction wide participation, affects other game systems.
Bad: No keep construction, less options for attacking/defending, faction wide ownership

<snip>

WAR guilds can own and controls keeps, just like DAoC.

EDIT (for clarification) - Guild "OWNERSHIP" (not creation) kktnxbai

After all is said and done, a lot more will be said than done.

Age of Conan Player made and built. Last I heard warhammers keeps are just ones that are static and found pre built. that might of changed in War not sure.  Both are destructible.

To mean the keep i will be in is AoC's because it will have more meaning as its something made by hand and hard work.

Not to say either fights from each type will be fun.

I just prefer the hands on approach.

You can take over keeps in AoC too and build them back up with the building you want or need for your guild. You have a choice of what you want to build. And they are bloody massive!

All siege weapons are hand crafted in AoC too.

Anyone got FPS in each games area?? no ok then so we dont know about performance.

Playing: Age of Conan, Crysis Wars (mod maps), Fallout 3, NWN2 Storm of Zehir
Watching: Doctor Who S4, Stargate Atlantis S5

Ok, im gonna call these "epic" battles.  I want that and Im afraid AoC will be the "dont add to my fight" crap again.  However, on the other hand I am hoping those who like that sort of thing will be playing on a FFAPVP server and leave the epic stuff (if there really is any in AoC) to the PvE servers.

what do you mean "don't add to my fight"?

and yes there are going to be a lot of players within the guilds there will still be loads of strategy.

The fact you are not sure what i mean by that is very encouraging :-)

In DAoC (a realm vs realm game) many ppl try to make it an arena game and complain (oh so very very loud) that they dont want any other player (dont think they got its a mmo) in intere with "their" gameplay..long long story in a place far far away, but hope that helps.

Am i wrong here i thought a guilds keep is attacked when a guild says it can be? in a certain time frame. Or do you as questing actually get a message saying keep is declared war on get here now? If so then i take it back but my understanding is it s nothing like that at all. What i mean is out questing or whatever i m told enemies on keep no one saying hey we re attacking you come fight us.  Element of suprise is what i m saying i don t think this happens in AOC it s well known when you re getting attacked. Please tell me if i m wrong :)

As far as FPS Avery no ne can say i m sure :) I agre with that , but.... I m sure you have to agree AOC will have more problems due to lag in big fights then WAR. This is what you get when you want awesome graphics :)

now that you are hopefully finished patronizing me.

you wont have to worry about that the game is geared twoard pvp so if someone wants to fight just you then they will walk up to you and crack your skull, or you will crack theirs (with the exception of in pve)

I believe that you will get a notification when you are out questing, but it wont be a notification that you are currently being attacked so much as that an enemy army is wanting to attack, at which point it gives the defender some choice over when the attack actually occurs. I think I recall reading that the defenders can put it off for a certain amount of time, and the longer they put it off the more disadvantages they get.. but don't quote me on that.

I don't know how well that works in practice, as I can imagine defenders just choosing an off hours time when the attacker wouldn't be able to muster enough players to make an effective siege... but i wont hypothesize on that.

So no, i dont think there are any surprises in regards to suddenly finding you're under attack.

Waiting for: A skill-based MMO with Freedom and Consequence.
Woe to thee, the pierce-ed.
