Im not trying to start a war with the prior subscribers to this game. And please note.....prior subscribers. Not those that have never paid one day in Vanguard or decided to base their opinion off a review. How bad is this game to you? Really what put you over the edge to not give it a chance or see through your little gripe or a few bugs. What caused you to log in for the first time, love everything about the game, not notice some bugs, read some reviews or forum complaints and decide and start changing your opinion of the game? What bugs put you over the edge. I want you to name some. Hardware glitches, some performance issues? You go buy a game like crysis, COD4 or anything new at that and you cant run at full settings. SO what do you do? You lower them right? Cause damn if your not going to get you 50.00 dollars worth. You compensate... thats what you do. Aside from some performance issues, a few bugs, I yet have to hear about; does it take that little to keep you from a game that by far has more potenial that any game out there? Grpahics a 9 perhaps a 10 if you have the hardware, depth and uniqueness cant touch, bar none. If all your friends were playing it, you bet your arse you'd be playing it right along with them. How many of you started with a bunch a friends and you have one influential friend who leaves with the rest of the crowd and you follow? Honestly tell me that Vanguard gave you back what you desired for a moment, but you never stayed focused long enough to see the genious of the game it really is...
ps...how many of you keep coming back after a patch and some good reviews.. Admit it you want it to be your perfect little MMO, but never will. Look at EQ how screwed up it was... and BAM...biggest MMO ever... peace. |

once again.. no validity in your complaint.. What do you base a beta test off of? Name your complaints or bugs that made you feel like that. And what system where you running when you started playing. |

It is pretty clear that you just want to tell people to get over their "little gripes" as you put them, but I can answer your question without ever naming a single bug.
To use a term you cite about Vanguard, POTENTIAL. Yes the game has great potential and more than most games have in a while. However it isn't anywhere close to achieving that potential. SWG has the best potential of any game out, Dark and light had potential, EQ2 and the list goes on and one. Saying the game has potential already implies it isn't there yet.
I can pay for another game and enjoy that right now instead of paying for a potential that may or may not ever arrive. Talk is cheap and the is no way to know what SOE will do looking at the past track records of re engineering their games in crazy directions or just abandoning them all together (the most likely case for VG).

If life is but a dream, then why must we row so hard? |
I recently returned to the game. There have been improvements, but I am finding myself annoyed by more content and technical bugs than ever. I still crash to desktop at least once a play session. I still run into the run in place bug, where nothing responds other than chat, while your character runs in place. I'm contantly running into quest bugs where they won't complete or move onto the next stage or won't recognize that I have gotten a quest drop (exiting the game and relogging fixes some of these issues, but why the hell should I have to do that with a game this old). This is still a solo unfriendly game. It has improved some since release, but xp rates for soloing are still abysmal. The majority of dungeons cannot be soloed, thanks to being populated not only by 4 dots, but multiples of them. They've increased rewards across the board, but solo content is still very much inferior to grouping and raiding rewards. More than 50% of the overall quests are group / raid only and the solo quests still give you inferior rewards comapared to the other types of play styles. SOE has made some great changes to the classes that they've revamped, while at the same time, adding tons more bugs with each patch. They do not test these updates deeply, creating various grouping and raiding bugs, spawn issues and so forth. I still see graphical glitches, flickerings and while frames per second have improved overall, there is still way too much hitching, freezing and stuttering, especially in cities or crafting areas or in dugneons where groups are clashing over content. They can't even fix a long standing problem with weapons and shields disappearing visually on your avatar, only fixable by logging. Healer resurrect items stop working, only fixable by logging. Quests updating properly, only fixable by logging. This game is over a year old and it's the most unpolished and inefficient set of code I have ever played with. It lacks the depth and breadth of content a game this old should have by now. It is not the horrible game it used to be, but it is still very annoying due to technical and content issues. |

| With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal |

so the word potenial scares you? What games dont have potenial or reason of change, or implements to make game play perfect. Heck what games do you play that are perfect? Once again what DID YOU SEE OR DO take make your game that horrible... I would expect more from advanced or elite members to provide ample amount of information about their reviews on this game..
Potential 1. The inherent ability or capacity for growth, development, or coming into being. |

So does that describe your gameplay and feelings of the game at 100%? 90% if they fixed those problems for you, would you be playing it otherwise? |

Originally posted by cichy1012 ok it was a good day ahh january 30th 2007, a day which will go down as the day when i payed to play a game that had no playability and was surely in the technical beta testing phase. My system 3ghz p4 2gb ram 5950 geforce ultra, though higher then system requirements it didnt meet the quota. OK flash forward 15 days ahh new system new kicks new everything. Tax refund at its best pays for the new system components to move me along this path toward freedom and playability. C2D E6400, Geforce 8800 GTS(640mb), and 2 GB of corsairs finest. i enter my password in and bam a magical thing happens i download the updates that i have been not downloading for the past few weeks oh i do love to download these ahhhh. done oh yes the moment of true ecstasy is around the corner. there i was entering the land of Vanguard when BAM i s t a r t e d m o v i n g s o o o o o sllow. WTF as my anger builds i turn down settings to find the game playable at a good 30-40fps out of citys while 20-25 in them. Hmm now this could of been a mistake but this is Vanguard a game that is spose to put EQ and WoW to sleep yet Im falling asleep playing this game. I can't do anything because no one else is here to play with me what am i to do. Now i know 30fps-40 is good enough to play with but why should i settle for less when there are more quality mmos already on the market. This game though it may be in theory one of the greats was plagued by bugs in its infancy to a point that made it unplayable. EQ had its bugs but i never logged into eq except that time i had 32mb of ram and i couldnt moved but was fixed with a 64mb add-on. Yes bugs are one thing but when I cant move or turn on the graphics that the game so boasts because that is its bread and butter makes me disgusted. Any player who supports Vanguard supports beta testing for mmos that arn't finished yet but are able to hit the shelves. Vanguard wasn't playable to me until GU3 at which point i could log on and the playiblity to graphics ratio was do able and that wasnt till October 2007. Thats 9 months later the sad thing is everything i say about every Vanboi who supports this game i say about myself aswell. I the retard that i am every few months reactivate my 1 year and 2month old account to see how vanguard does in its glory and so therefore i have no shame in sayin i to am a retard. I want vanguard to be fun but i know everytime i log on it wont make it to the land of ecstasy that we all want it to reach. People keep coming into these forums return to vanguard its so great its so fun. Well im sure everyone who does will load it up play a week and immeditly uninstal this. Lower areas are Vacant dont say they arnt i log on all the time and they are ghost towns. And everyone i see on the majority is 30+. So to presume i remember a bug from a year and 2 months ago is ludicris. |
