with free shipping, does that make TR Richard Garriotts Diakatana, and if so can he ever have credibility as a desinger again? Discuss. |

I have no idea what everyone's problem with TR is. GREAT game, fun to play, decent PvP, and why the hell is getting a game cheap a bad thing? Personally, think it is astounding to get this great a game at such a low price. I got mine for 7.50 a few hours ago. i did a victory dance.

1. The cloning system doesn't work. Nice idea on paper, fundamentally flawed. Say you get to level 40 and unlock the Thrax hybrid and decide that you want to be a Thrax from now on; you clone your "main" character and get a new character that is a Thrax. However, you also lose all your old clone points (as they're still bound to your old character). You also lose all progression in the ToO missions (zone wide uber-missions that take ages to complete). 2. You can't respec without cloning. Make a single wrong decision and you have to clone, leading to the same problems mentioned above. Clone points are also finite. You get them from ToO's and the cloning mission, but once they run out, you can't get any more. 3. Mobs that can one-hit kill you. There is a mob in-game called a Strider and it has a large turret on it which can and will one-shot most players. 4. Useless skills. There are simply too many of them. 5. Lack of content. If you miss a few missions as you're levelling, it's too easy to end up in a situation where you are forced to grind XP to level up so that you can unlock new missions. Where in most games you have a few choices on where to go and what to do, TR has a rigid linear progression and not enough missions to ensure that it's a smooth one. 6. Crafting. It's terrible. You can modify your gear with slight bonuses or make medkits/ammo at a cost that's about 95% of what it would be just to buy them from a vendor. No weapon/armour crafting at all. 7. No roleplaying support; your character has a few emotes and stuff, but that's about it. 8. End-game. There isn't one. Once you hit level 50 there is literally nothing that you can do progress your character in any way. Nothing to work toward. 9. No vehicles. I know they're planned but seriously; it's a sci fi game and the ability to pilot and/or take control of base turrets should have been in the game from the beginning. 10. And finally, no meaningful PVP. You can join a clan and gank one another with no real reason or benefit. There is no capture-the-flag or hold-an-objective style PVP minigames, no clan control of outposts, nothing. |

Originally posted by TeflonEddie That pretty much sums my feelings up as well, I mean Vehicles should have been in at launch, with the abysmal lack of content the six plus year dev cycle and all the money shoved in Garriotts pockets there is no excuse not to at least have ground Vehicles my god it's a sci fi game, that's like doing a Fantasy game and saying well swords aren't in yet but they are on the list. |

Eh, personally i'm fine with watching a game unfold while i'm in it.. so i can remeniss(how u spell that) about how much has changed etc. The gameplay and story line more than makes up for the cloning problems, which are being worked on. Plus, vehicles would be cool, but i think it would take away from the game slightly, due to the fact that it is about you chanelling logos powers... which would be pretty hard in a vehicle. I'm happy with it as it is, and eagerly await the changes. Much better game than WoW or runescape tho. The one thing that i do have to agree on tho is the fact that there is no real PVP... i get that everyone is against the bane, and that is cool and all, but PvP (i like the CTF or Multiple CP idea) is needed to make the game fun.. especially at end game... but i'll be patient enough to wait and see how the game unfolds. |

Come now, Reklaw.. Using the argument "ok, so that side of the game sucks but you knew that when you started playing so it's ok that it sucks" is just lazy. Making excuses for the lack of a respec system by blaming players for not planning ahead with knowledge of skills that they couldn't possible have until they tested them out? And really, "end-game content" is NOT rerolling multiple adds. That's what you do when you exhaust the content; "end-game content" comprises things that your character can do once it reaches the maximum level. And you'll probably be hard-pressed to find someone who hasn't been snuck up on and one-shot by a Strider. or had one spawn on their head and annihilate them. |

Uh... ya. $20 is not $2. The extra 0 means a lot. Regardless, the game sucks.

I bought mu copy on ebay for 5 bucks, after that I bought 6 more for friends and family. Money well spent.. So far I am loving it. It's exactly the break i was looking for from games where the combat is something that simply has to be endured to obtain a reward. I have so much fun actually doing the missions, or just defending bases or killing endless waves of aliens that leveling and loot are happy side-effects. I really think a lot of people play games in the beta and then trash it forever based on the look behind the curtain... with all the ugly parts exposed. I played the game in beta and didn't really care for it. It ran so bad I couldn't make myself play very long at all. I only bought it now because I was really bored and it was five bucks. The difference is really night and day... but don't take my word for it, lay down 5 bucks and find out. :) |

I just want to point out that they are adding unlimited respecs in the next patch. One for skills and one for attributes. Using control points as the way to acquire them. Pretty genius actually. It will give players more motivation to socialize, b/c as is it's far to easy to solo. Personally, I think it's a MUCH needed change for the game.
Still though, the classes are unbalanced, the crafting system is in desperate need of rebalance and the lack 'rewarding' effort of grouping leaves the game lack luster.
It's been said thousands of times about this game, but it's true: The potential is there to be an epic MMOG, but the implementation was poorly handled. |

Originally posted by Jpizzle I strongly agree. Tabula Rasa is looking to be that big MMO and join the ranks of WoW or LotRO, but the developers need to get their act togethor; decide on a goal, work towards that goal, and achieve it, not have goals all over the place. |

After all, ceteris paribus, we can assume that they have not increased production of the CDs for this horrid game, and the price as spoken of in calculus terms is approaching zero, therefore the demand for this steaming pile of an MMO is in free-fall. I say good. The sooner this game drops dead the better. The coins wasted on this will be better used by better companies to produce better games.
