Well I've been kinda waiting on Vanguard to get a bit more polished before really coming back in strength and I've also been interested in Age of Conan. For me though a big factor will be the combat system. I really think the combat system in vanguard is very good but there is a ton of hype around AoC. I finally found something that lets me try combat that will be like AoC. Someone who is playing AoC said that AoC has a combat system very similar to Avencast. So if like me you are thinking about AoC you can check out the demo of Avencast to see what the combat system is going to be like. Frankly I was unimpressed and all the graphics and features in the world won't make up for a poor combat system. Be interested to see what others think. |

Originally posted by ethion I think that if you put up two types of combat systems Vanguard and AoC would be in different ones. What I mean is that even if Avencrast combat system maybe is not that good AoC still can be. While I been looking forward to AoC long before I even heard of Vanguard I think I'm opting to play VG and test out SGW when it comes instead. Still have my preorder on AoC though. |

there's a chance that AoC might not suck, but why wait to find out? Vanguard is a great game and you can always switch to AoC if it turns out to be the best thing ever. But frankly, from the beta leaks i've read, AoC's issues cut right to the core of the game's design: way too small/linear, PvE is an afterthought, PvP is unbalanced, combat is mindless, etc. |

Have to go with VG. AoI jus looks like a gimmick . There is nothing mature about blood and boobies. Maturity is a level of personality ,ambition. Think Vanguard can better then AoC given the right circumstances., like performance, quest flow and getting back tot he original theory of the game. AoI (Age of Immaturity) seems like a fast buck for Funcom, nothing more, how much faster to make money then blood and boobs ? |

When it first launched, I had pre-ordered the collectors edition of Vanguard only to find that the game was completely unplayable due to software bugs & performance issues. Even now it seems to be a bit of a lottery with regard to hardware issues & though I cancelled my subscription well before the end of the trial period, I regularly check back to see if it might be worth another try. Unfortunately, that 'stickied' thread on issues with 'Nvidia 8800' cards is still there, which is ironic really since I upgraded my PC to use that card in anticipation of the VG release. It's hard to imagine that AoC could have as many technical issues, but like with VG I will give it a try & make my own mind up. Although I assume VG has evolved/improved considerably since launch, it didn't seem that 'Cutting Edge' to me. In many respects (especially the embarassingly crude blue name tag fonts) it seemed a bit too retro. Certainly the 'immersion' element fostered by NPCs was quite weak. In the newbie areas having all the vendors use exactly the same sound clip about 'Buying something to cover your stench' got old very very quickly. I can't comment on how much better the game was outside the newbie areas as it was too difficult for me to level up when I was permanently in 'Bullet Time'. I have read a lot about AoC & watched quite a few trailers. I look forward to the launch & hopefully will love it, but maybe I will hate it. I try not to be put off by people who have already decided the latter without having tried it for themselves. It just seems a bit odd to speculate on whether a game that hasn't even launched yet is better/worse than one that has been running for over a year & which still has many issues. Maybe if they ever fix VG I will give that another try as well, I still have a few Buddy keys left. |

I'm using an 8800gtx and I'm not having any issue so I'm guessing whatever stickied thread you are refering too is probably old... For me my 8800gtx is working great.

If jumping on a train wreck like Vanguard appeals to you, go for it. AoC and WAR will be 10x the game that Vanguard is or ever will be. |
