"We''re not making a game for Trekkies" Daron Stinnett, Perpetual Entertainment

OK, Whiners, stop the crying.  EA never said there would be no WAR forums.  There will be MOD only forums.  That is open to change later.  There will be official channels for you to report bugs and exploits, so be happy.

In terms of wow in Europe it had NOTHING to do with the Tech not KNOWING what was going on - it was the fact that the tech did not THINK it was their problem until the players showed DIRECT connection between the problems and the TELIA network.  Then first BLizzard admited it was part of THEIR problem instead of blaming it on ISPs in 10 diffrent countries.

And yes - WAR is a MMO game - These things will come up.  And EXACTLY the same problems will not become obvious when the players can not comunicate and see the direct link.

It took 3 months when over 10k ppl made formal complaint on the forums.  IT might still be like this to this day if players were not able to prove their point.  Cause the gaming developer did NOT look at it as their problem.

Alot of players were banned from WOW forums cause of this.  Blizzard did their most to try to hide this but the players were persistent.

i've played eq2 for 3 years in a server dominating raidguild and have followed both boards over these years, eq2flames only since it actually started, so unless you can tell me you have played in any kind of more min-maxing fashion than high end raiding over that time, just accept that you can't win this argument over eq2 boards.

I have no problem finding a guide on the EQ2 forums.  Just as a test, I had my 10 year old son try to find a guide to his class on the EQ2 forums.  It took him under a minute. I asked him to find a guide for noobs, and again he was capable of navigating to a suitable guide in less than a minute.

If you are incapable of grasping the concept of categorized information, that is a shame... but with as many guides as are available on that forum, it would be a little chaotic to just shove them all in a "Guides" folder.  You want a general gameplay guide, check the gameplay section.  Need a class guide, check the top of the forum dedicated to your class. Who wants to venture a guess on where to find Tradeskill guides??  Oh.. there they are, stickied to the top of the tradeskill forum.  If you need to find something really obscure, or just have no idea what category your query fall under, there is a handy dandy search function... even a blank at the top of every page to search that topic or forum. Damn handy feature, IMO.

As to your second paragraph... I'm not sure what the size of your e-peen has to do with the topic of the worthiness of official forums, but just  FYI.  If you think that little monologue about your server dominating high end  min-maxing raidguild make you look cool, or somehow more credible than anyone else... it doesn't.  It kinda makes you look like a dick.... ;)

Ohh that guys said you can find class guide on the classboards. HE said that , you must have not read it.

However, he did attack the guild forums.

Well one of us musrt not have read it... He said there is no guides forum. :P

oh they would notice....as long as nobody complained in the official forums they wouldn't fix it!

You realize that they have tech support right? (faq, sumbit issue and LIVE chat) you don't think 10k people bashing tech support would draw their attention. Right no offense but you don't seem to even think about this logically. all your arguements are they will not notice. Well if 10k people more started bashing your tech support all with the same issue you would notice.

Ill say it again , so far the official forums of wow are the worse place to get help. google does a much better job, as if the problem is fixable by the player, IT IS THE PLAYERS who are finding a fix for the problem and then later Mod.s who pass it along.  If you can personally fix the problem then , it DOESN'T REALLY MATTER ANYWAY. As the best you can do is wait for DEV.s to fix the issue.

If that was addressed to me, I was being sarcastic because of course they would notice if 10k paying customers weren't able to connect for 3 months.

That entire post is total BS.

awww thanks, so sweet of you.

The EQ2 forums are active, searchable and packed with information.

they are active, which doesn't imply anything good, they are searchable, which is a necessity of any forum.
there actually are guides to every class in the classboards, and then there are the other 99.99% of the threads.

i am not going to talk about the sense of class guides...

Anyone who wants to can go over there and look.  The assertion that anyone who's anyone posts on eq2flames is absurd.  As I understand it, they aren't even an officially supported fansite any more.  It's just a place to bash the game these days.

on the one side it is a place to bash, on the other side it's the one place where people actually have a clue and not every discussion over game mechanics pops up twice a week and people have to teach another crazy person how math works.

Official forums are generally packed with gameplay guides of all types, server and class specific discussions, answerers to everyday questions people might have.  I don't think a lot of people actually believe their posts on official forums lead to gameplay changes, but they are still always the best place to find people to have those discussions with.. and certainly the most likely place for a dev to read your ideas.

fansites are generally packed with gameplay guides of all types, server and class specific discussions, answers to everyday questions people might have. devs are just as likely to take gameplay ideas from there as they are to take them from beta forums.

You must have not read.

PS Ascension08, no it just occured to me when you said it

, i realize you were qouting earlier peoples.

But that they themselves were not realizing that they were sayign we need Official forusm for tech issues , and then pointing out that with Official forums it took them three months to listen.

THey knew there were ALOT more than 10k players not able to play on peak hours.

Players could play fine after midnight to about 5 PM.  BUt you know what ?  Players DON'T buy a computer game and pay for subs for playing certain hours.   And it was ok for alot of players that were playing casual Solo gaming cause the low bandwith that Telia provided did not affect them as much.

Blizzard simply said  "Its not our fault. Talk to your ISPs"

Our ISPs said "its not our fault - Talk to your gaming service.

And oh ... TELIA has NO direct connection point .  NO official forms.  NO official forums.  They did not say ONE word for 3 months.  And there was NO way to send them emails.

Why would I think WAR - Europe will be any diffrent ?   I don't .

Again you assume that forums are the only way to get in contact with devs/the company. Especially about technical issues this is NOT true. Forums are just one way (an unnecessary way, imo).

And again, if Telia has that bad service or is not decent enough to admit it was their fault, that's their problem. Can't compare Mythic to that.
