Hi, first id like to ask a question probably seen many of times on the forums. What MMO do you recommend for a experienced MMO player to burn a few months. All im interested in is content, graphics are a bonus. P2P or F2P, either are fine. A bit of background from games I've tried, currently playing EQ2. WoW (Played for 6 months, ended up hating the game, not even worth considering), AO (5+years), EQ, EQ2, MxO, Linage, Linage2, DAoC, D&D, CoV/H and finally FFXI. Sci-fi are by far my personal preferance. Thanks in advance for your opinion. |

If you're really only looking for a couple of months entertainment in a sci-fi setting, then I'd recommend Tabula Rasa. It's actually a pretty crap game but the crapness doesn't set in 'til the higher levels so you could probably get a couple of months of great fun out of it, providing that you don't hammer it for 12 hours a day. EVE is currently the best sci-fi MMO out there, but the learning curve and skill system might limit your enjoyment if you're only planning on playing for a couple of months. |

Not so sure about TR, as Im looking for something with content. From what I can gather from the TR forums thats something it lacks.

Nah :)
I played the game through all of the beta, it was pretty decent. The system requirements get kinda harsh at times due to stupid DX10 but overall its a decent game. Like they said endgame is not like AO, but it is unique.
Basically game until about 60% through levels is all based on what weapons you have and then shifts to purely defined by your skills. The content itself, pretty creative....the way they do quests as well. If you've played auto assault this is somewhat of an equivalent in terms of concepts, its like trying to merge EQ with autoassault. |

Originally posted by RodentofdoomWhat TR has is about 3 or so story-driven instances per zone; they're based on missions that you can only do once, so have no replay value. Outside of the instances the missions are typical MMO-style, "go kill, go fetch, go deliver" without any real innovation. If you play conservatively then your 2 months will probably be up before you get to the really poopy end of the game which currently starts around level 40 ish; insufficient missions to fill a level and nothing to do if you make it all the way to level 50. Character development post level 30 is also somewhat lacking, (you have access to every skill your character will ever have once you turn 30), but there you can always play around with the different classes (there are 8 in total). I can understand the reticence though; you might want to look at EVE instead. It has tons of (mainly player-driven) content if you join a corporation. |

Maybe you should try PotBS? Anyway, if you are going to play only for a few months, it's not worth even starting EVE :) As the poster above said - very big learning curve + skills will really limit you "fun". Let me guess, you are probably waiting on WAR or AoC? :) |

yes i push people to play Starqest online alot but i do love it so |
i would personally recommend StarQuest Online the shear depth is what keeps me i love the game tho the gfx aren't what you would call nice but then again if your if you see them as just an added bonus that shouldnt be too bad as with eve the learning curve is a bit steep tho i got past that after a couple of days and im not that fast a leaner but check it out it may just be right up your ally |

Yes, waiting on both AoC and WH:O EVE doesnt really seem a option imo, as its a 'train this skill to fly xxx'. Which can take months to do if not years.

MMORPG Character Monuments ...When its time for your character to take a well deserved rest... |
I agree, EvE or GW would be a solid 2 month MMO. GW perhaps better because there i no subscription..and thus, if there are further delays in WAR or AoC release, there will be no extra cost.

My vote goes to:Guild Wars! it's not only free it's also very good and fun to play. It got good PvE, PvP, tactical aspects, much content and it got no monthly fee. For further information just head over to the Guild Wars forums or send me a message and I'll do my best to answer any questions. | |
