On Wednesday, March 12th, the developers from SOE's Vanguard: Saga of Heroes stopped by the MMORPG.com IRC to talk about their game. Today, we present you with the chat log.
Read it all here. Cheers, |

I'd be interested in trying this game again when it is more polished and that Island releases. Will anyone be willing to post some DX10 maxed graphics setting screenshots. I have a new computer rolling in next week that will be able to run max settings and DX10, but I don't want to bother if the graphics look like hell. Too much text, I'll wait till they make the movie. ;)
Seriously, can someone sum it up minus the 95% RP blah blah?

It''s one thing to have a opinion, but enforcing one is unconstitutional. |

Well my problem with these chat logs none of the real questions get answered. Its all in the near future or its in our plans. For a next gen game they should of answered why does this game not support multi-gpu's or multi-cpu's. IMO this game would love that feature and would be drastically improved if it did so. Are the coders that lazy they don't want there game to be top notch and look the best while playing the best. Seems more of im to lazy do do my creations if you ask me. |

Originally posted by Thillian I don't know, boulders and mountains never really looked accurate in Vanguard. They looked very metallicy, like they used lighting bad on things that should have a dull look. LoTRO's mountains actually looked like mountains. You could even see the layers of rock where the top soil was stripped away. Their trees also looked like real tree in LoTRO. In Vanguard, not much looked real, it just looked like poor computer representations of what the developers thought looked real. In LoTRO, everything looked real and picturesque. Now, I am playing DAoC, so obviously graphics don't mean a lot to me. It is more about what looks real and believable. When I have to squint to look at a mountain, because it looks like I am looking at a huge copper node (the mountain) with the sun shining on it, there is something wrong with that. I'm sure you have no idea what I am talking about, but I'm sure if you just look around and compare it to reality, you won't get much of a resemblance, other than shape. Respect to SOE for continuiung to invest talent, time and money into this game. Clearly they are still determined to get the working mechanics to the normal release state post the mess that sigil left them. I just hope there is not too much cross-pollinisation of ideas from EQ2 and this game can maintain / achieve a distinct look and feel. Would be a shame for it to follow a path of duplicating aspects of EQ2.
Good luck guys To err is human....to play is divine |

Originally posted by Thillian LOL! Altho the environments look nice, the character appearance, animations and horse mounts look absolutely horrible and amateuristic. Seriously. The thing they should working on as well, before even thinking about a re-release is overhauling characters, their animations and the horse mounts. Then they might be on the right direction after that. As so far, the characters, animations and mounts in EverQuest2 (a game 3 years older then Vanguard) look far far better! Cheers |

Can't believe they said NPC boats have worked since launch... WHICH game have they been playing??? They took all the easy questions and didn't answer anything that actually meant anything to the players. Complete waste of time and typical propaganda PR trash. I won't be returning anytime soon, not without serious love for monks. Disappointing to say the least. |

Quite interesting interview . Its true vanguard is getting better and better. The new gryphon questline is a must! I would like to see some more diplomacy shpere love coming, better implementation and better rewards for the higher diplomats, as a reward since they have put so many hours in the shpere. Also some compensation for the high end crafters, specially after the gu4 revamp and upgrade of the end no-raid items... |

Originally posted by Guillermo197 Actually, they are currently working on overhauling the characters. I don't see a problem with the mounts personally. I like those. And while some animations need work, some are fantastic -- my disciple moves with grace and precision. I love his animations! In fact, the only animation that I really don't like is the swimming animation. It definitely needs redone. BTW, I completely disagree on the characters looking better in EQII. That's a matter of opinion I suppose, but EQII is ugly and cartoony by comparision in my opinion. |

One thing I find quite funny and that shows quite a bit about the VG team is this: on their site, they only had a few of the questions there. Stabfast's question was in my opinion one of the more important ones yet it was sidestepped in a complete answer and not even posted on the vgplayers site when they did their recap. Interesting, huh? |
