I heard about these free "return to SWG" trials for veterans to temporarily reactivate their accounts.

Is this going on now, and if so, how do I do it?

Simply log into your old account and you should have some time availible.

Hmm, I uninstalled a while back.

If I download the trial, will I be able to log in my old account, or do I need to dig out my discs?

Nah, they don't even sell the discs anymore.  All you need to do is install the digital download from the SOE site.  It will ask for all your information there.

Is the trial the full game?

Or do I need to download some other file?

it should patch to full when you enter your account info.

Good God, no wonder this game is in the crapper.

I download the trial, and try to install it.  FIrst, it spews files all over my desktop and locks my computer up for 5 minutes while extracting.

Then, when the installation finally starts, it progresses about halfway and tells me a file is missing, and asks me to insert a disk???

So I go back to the website to see if I can just download the full game, I get directed to Direct2Drive.com, which says the game is not even available.  How are people even supposed to buy the game if they want to?

 So then I go back to the trial website, and see that you have to download two separate files to install the trial

Total amateur hour.

You can download it from a site that has the client , or pop down to your local store and pick up a Complete online adventures pack which includes all the expansions.

But thats for new people, old players just need a client.

When extracting, try not to select 'desktop'

Perhaps you need to update your CPU and RAM.

Make sure you extracted everything into one folder, otherwise it will ask for a disc.

People can buy via digital download, or from a store.

I'll be damned if I can figure out where to download the complete game (other than by downloading the trial), and if you click on "buy now" it gives you a bunch of links of where you can buy it, none of which have it.

Just download the trial, unpack it to its own folder (make a new folder and point the unpacker to it). Once its done unpacking, install it (shouldnt get any 'insert disc X' errors if its all in the same folder) log in with your info and patch up to current.
