Hello,

I'm pretty much new here and to MMORPGs in general. I've been playing MUDs for around 3 years now and can't seem to find another that interests me. So, I've decided to try other options.

Runescape is where I started. Don't get me wrong, it seems to be a very nice game. I've only been playing for a few days now and it seems to have a bit of an immature player base. I actually heard one of the kids say he was 10 years old. I'm an adult and would rather play with a more mature player base if possible.

My question is, are there worthwhile MMORPGs out there that only allow 18+ years of age and that isn't centered around porn? I don't mind paying subscriptions after being permitted to try the game out first in order to see if it's worth paying for.

Here's to hoping I'll find recommendations here. I wasn't aware it was so hard to find this sort of game.

I would say wait till Age of Conan comes out, first M rated MMO so it will weed out alot of the younger players (not saying there will be none, because it is easy for someone who cant buy the game by themselves to get their hands on it, but it will help)...

If you want a game now though, i would prolly say pretty much any pay to play game but world of warcraft (wow has a very unique playerbase saying it nicely, i recently tried the game again, and its still pretty bad)...

you can find free trials to games everywhere on the internet, try EQ2, LotRO, or  CoX (City of Heroes/City of Villians)... im personally a huge fan of City of Heroes and like to play EQ2 alot... i would go for EQ2 if you have alot of time to play and plan on raiding and grouping alot, but would go with CoH if you dont have much time to find groups and everything.

I lol'd. You'd probably find a more mature crowd on Club Penguin.

On topic: ROSE Online has a large adult community. I jumped around several clans full of adults joined by their own kids. There's very few immature children and they can be easily ignored. Unfortunately the game gets pretty old fast, and there's an unchanging max level ;(.

EDIT: This may be different now as I quit 6 months ago.

Id suggest EVE Online. The majority are adult players, its actually easier to find corporations accepting adults than minors. One thing is though the learning curve is a little steeper than most MMO's, but the community is very helpfull.

Yeah, I suggest you give EVE online a try. The game has many in-depth features so less kids will play it.
