Frankly I dont want to see any other games get as large as WoW. WIth large groups comes the WoW community which is the biggest sesspool of idiots in the world. Sure there are some nice people that play, but for ever 1 nice person you find you will run into 10 others that are complete idiots.

Another one,

Since numbers don't make WoW the best, tell us what is better than WoW and why else you are just rambling.

A lot of people say WoW is easy, Wow sucks, wow is this and WoW is that, a baby can say that, you need to say why it is so else you appear to be a troll.

What make it worse is that these people have played the game to the end and then come and bash it, if you truly didnt like it then surely you would have stopped before the end ?

I have played variuos MMOs, VG, D&D, EQ2 for example and to me they are more or less the same, WoW is more polished and has more people running around and i beleive that this is what makes it successful.

So in future bash Wow all you like but please for your sake quailfy your bashing else consider yourselve a troll!

WoW is WoW. It might have the most subs of any MMO on the market, but it's not greatest thing since the wheel.

People have a right to express thier opinions, and if they want to bash a game based on what experiences they had, thats fine, so long as they can provide evidence. Same goes for defending a game. The OP gave 3 points, but made no comparison/example as to which games and why.

PvE in WoW is easy to follow and only requires a pulse to accomplish. Everything is pretty straight forward and requires little thought. Games like old EQ required a bit more thinking and a bit more caution. They were more akin to PnP games. They didn't appeal to the masses that WoW appeals to. WoW is more geared to the people who want to jump in and start swimming right away, not having to worry about learning how to swim to begin with. There are a lot of people who like to have a game that makes them use thier brain more than that. I am not saying WoW is horrible game. It's just kinda shallow and never gets any deeper.

PvP in WoW, like in any game is realetive to the player. I myself never really liked PvP, but I can see where some of the people are coming from. In games like DAoC it was all about tactics, numbers and control. In UO it was all about survival and loss, and from what I have been told, Eve is pretty much a mix of the 2. In WoW its really just a multiplayer deathmatch skinned over a raid encounter type reward structure. Its mainly based off gear with a lttle emphasis on speed and awareness. It might work for some people, but a lot of people into PvP need more. They need to break a sweat in the heat of battle, they need that boost of adreneline, the feeling of 'Holy ___, That was intense!'. They need to know they out skilled the player, not out mashed/geared their opponent.

As for the community, the bigger the city, the more A-holes you will encounter. WoW is like NYC where a smaller game will be more like some small suburban town. Sure there will be morons and idiots, you just won't notice them all that often in the suburbs. EQ2 has pretty much a more mature community, though it still has its share of bad apples. WoW is geared more to the masses, so there will be more vocal bunch of immature people (and a ton of chuck norris jokes...). Like buying cracker jacks; you don't really like the nuts but love the popcorn, so you buy more than one box to get more popcorn. Sure you get more of what you like, but you also just increased the amount of nuts.

I still play WoW on and off because its easy to jump back into and catching up doesn't really require too much effort. That's what WoW is great at. It's a game that no matter how much time you take off from or can commit to it, you never get left behind. When I want a challenge, I'll try another game.

WoW pre70 and WoW endgame is 2 different games. If you truly want to know a game you need to spend time at its endgame. WoW if fun to level, and most people playing it do mostly that, but me, and alot of other people found the endgame lacking. The raid system they got going and the total gear dependency at endgame sucks the life out of the raiders atleast. Imagine running every raid some 100x times for each tier step to equip a whole raid guild. If you find that stuff fun, well, I got a wall recently painted I need watched.

Xenogias argument is sound. Numbers dont always mean best. If they do, shit is good, cause a million flies cant be wrong eh?? Also since WoW is so damn big, the community is hurt by it. I have never met so many assholes in my entire mmo career as I had in WoW. Yes, there are assholes everywhere but they are so much more visible in WoW. In any other mmo, the community aint that freaking big and assholes like that quickly end on peoples ignore list. My ignorelist in WoW was full and still I met new ones which I couldnt put on ignore every freaking day.

Very well thought out post, the only thing I disagree with is your last statement. Wow is a challenging game in its own way otherwise people would not pay to play it. It might not be the most challenging game around but it does have its own challenges.  So you should have just said when I want more of a challenge.  ;)

In the end its quite simple. If you like the game play it, if you don't then move along, there is no need to bash those that choose to continue playing the game. It just makes you look petty.

"A man who carries a cat by his tail learns a lesson he will never forget." - Mark Twain

I, am, no, expert. Meaning don't flame me... but I did play WoW from January of 2005 to January of 2008. I can say, I met many amazing people, had many awesome moments, and wasted many hours of my life joyously. What caused me to quit...

1) Community - Wow. That is all I have to say... I remember when the game began, I met about 10 people, and we stayed together, experiencing it all for the first time, we hit 50 together.. then we hit 60 together, etc etc. Well, seven people quitting due to real life time constraints, and three transfers later, I'm alone. Of course, I met more people but none were as "tight" of a group as they were with me. Now-a-days the community is filled with eight year olds, just learning to type and spell correctly, well spell in-correctly but comprehensibly either way, and who enjoy cursing. Because all the "big kids" do it. Flaming is an incessant annoyance in trade chat, and cliques are formed. This is obviously the Abercrombie and Fitch of MMO... MTV will adopt a WoW concept soon, I guarantee it. The community has that mentality. I couldn't handle it. I had to leave due to it. As an "old fart" of an MMO player at this point, I want a helpful community.

2) Endgame - I don't have five hours a night to speak to no one except my ub3r l337 cool guild on vent. Yeah, whatever. I just don't have the time, OR desire. Blizzard made an incredible game, I have done endgame raids. I did them before TBC, and I did them afterwards. It's the same thing, with a "different strategy" each time. Wow, healers stand HERE, not THERE, and no no don't do that, you'll pull aggro... Nineteen bosses later, NO! STAND HERE! Drab. I gave up after I did Gruul's, I just lost hope in it.

3) PvP - Always was my favorite. Too bad the honor grind is mind numbingly dull, with, once again, that amazing community always talking. Talking talking talking, blaming and BITCHING. No one works together. It's revolting. WoW was not like this in the beginning, oh no it was not. I have no problem with the gear, I say put some required strategy, not, 1, 1, 1, 1, 3! Omgz CRITZZZ! Gear is not how a game should be based.

Now, I do have one thing to say, Blizzard has fashioned a beautiful, amazing, and integrative gaming world. Azeroth is absolutely incredible, the way the land is laid out, the way the horizon looks, the weather effects, and the colors all add in to that one final touch of incredibleness... Unfortunately, for me, the game has nothing more to offer.

As I will say I have enjoyed my time in WoW, I do believe it is falling through the cracks and may not be the best MMO on the market today. Mostly this is due the idiotic community, and emphasis on gear and raiding.

This is just my recount of my experiences throughout the game, don't flame me, I am not a troll.
