Well there you have it.  Nothing is better at closing my wallet then being called a WUSSIE!  For more info read the EVE economy article.  I admit it, I am not fond of PVP.  In fact I avoid it like the plague.  This avoidance means little in EVE and my frustraitions began the first time I left a warpgate only to be destroyed by another player.  Yes I was in a high security zone and yes the Son of a Gunn pod killed me.  I want to play a Sci Fi Space ship game so bad I can tast it but after loosing several ships to people who just want to be mean I am calling it quits.  Eve is capable of giving players the choice to stay clear of PVP but they are choosing not to, I am not sure why but my feelings are pure lazyness and greed.  Yes I said Greed, you have to pay people to make up content and EVEs lack there of is evedent.

Ok I am done venting.  I am ready to hear your replies.  Just remember I dont think less of the people that play the game because of the PVP or dispite it.  I just feel the Developers are missing out on opening up a broader base of suscribers and I cant fathom WHY.

I understand your concers but i do not think there is alot to be done.

The PvE element in Eve is not really deep enough if you absolutely close yourself of to PvP. Dont get me wrong, you can have enormous fun and can progress far in Eve without actively taking part in PvP through the market economy system. However, if you really want to excel is this field sooner or later your going to have to go through low security zones to get the best deals items etc, and for the majoity of the people who play Eve this IS the attraction of this game. If you know people to do this running for you then you could completely cut yourself off from the PvP part but this is the biggest part of the game. The wars between coorps etc make the market economy trading what it is. I really dont think Eve will attract many more subscribers pandering more to the PvE player, their success has come solely from the interation/wars between coorps, as well as the trading coorps that surround them (maybe joining a trading corporation is your best bet)

However, if you are relaying your stories truthfully it is a bit worrying how easy you can be destroyed in the high security zones.

Here here! I would love to play a PVE game like EVE. I am not into PVP but the thought of this game as a PVE game just excites the crap out of me. Why can they not open up a PVE server, add a little more content and thus increase thier revenues buy a substancial amout. I am sure there are a lot of people that would love to play a PVE version of this great game. Yes it is a great game, everything works as needed and it is very very fun to play.

Well I didnt say I was taken out easily.  I did put up a fight but I must admit a big factor in my losses hadmuch to do with in experiance.  the last ship I lost was a Tristan and It was loaded for mining and I had no idea about drones.

I guess I am more upset at being called a WUSSIE then anything else.  It reminded me of Romero saying he was going to make me his BITCH with that illfated Doom Followup I cant remember the name of.

With that said, I do thank the game has amazing design (the ships blow me away) and the Game mechanics are solid (happy to not be twitching)

EVEs developers could limit the pvp very easily but they don't and not likely to because EVE is a designed from the ground up as a pvp game and follows the developers passions and concepts, not wishing to slander other game creators but most of them design a game that will attract sales or subscribers but CCP thought "hey lets make a really cool game and maybe people will like it"

Most of the content is pvp driven and very nearly all the end game content is for the corporation and alliance conflicts, manufacturing and industry is a huge part of the game as well but that isnt really PVE and is really a form of pvp as you are competing with other people.

But at the end of the day pvp is unavoidable in EVE, I know lots of people are going to post "yes it is blah blah" and tactically and the way you do things it is avoidable in that sense but it is unavoidable in the sense that you cant happily PVE and never enter combat with another player.

For people who never want to pvp I would firmly suggest avoiding EVE because sooner or later somebody is going to upset you by spanking your ship and EVE is a rubbish pve game anyway with repetitive and easy missions or monotonous ratting.

@Rubaki, Being killed in high sec space is fairly common and there are many ways for it to happen from the age old suicide gank to miner can flipping and baiting people by entering their mission and stealing their stuff and player corps can war dec other player corps and legally shoot and kill them in high sec space.

If such a thing happened, it would be as if Trammel happened all over again.

Now I am as much of a "carebear" as they come (because I don't have the time and resources to be anything other) but the mingling of the two elements of PvP and PvE is what keeps 'em coming back for more. It offers a variety for all to take part in, when they want to.

Now its not impossible to play EVE and not experience PvP.
• Stay within a NPC Corp.
• Never go into space lower than .5 Security rating.

Those two aspects right there will keep you out of harms way nearly 100%. Even with EVE's current conception, there are various means to stay busy working within a PvE aspect ie. roleplaying / trade / production / mining / etc. I do agree with you, I would like to see them focus a bit more on adding more meaningful and interactive missions. They already have a great foundation, they just need to continue to build upon it.

I have lost quite a bit in my short time with EVE, but there just isn't a game out there that offers the freedom. Perhaps thats the reason why I haven't given up on EVE yet, there just isn't a better game out there for me.

Sorry mate but that's rubbish and that's the kind of thinking that ends up in some poor guy posting on a forum somewhere "some dudes attacked me in high sec and I lost everything I own!!" because they just spent every last ISK and sold all of their stuff to buy a hulk or something and got suicide ganked.

Always have your ship tanked and never count on being safe, the only safe place is docked inside a station. never go afk in space and avoid using autopilot. If you do any of those things be aware of the extra risks it brings. And being in a NPC corp doesn't guarantee safety it only prevents direct war declarations and you can be baited or tricked (somebody stealing your stuff in a mission and parading up and down smacking at you for example) and there are mechanics like the "lofty maneuver" which use gang war mechanics to make somebody a legitimate target.

As Garkan said, CCP had an idea for a game, not an idea how to make money. If you havn't seen it, one of the CCP devs gave a presentation on what they had to go through to create CCP / EVE. It's pretty impressive.

Before I go on, I'll give a quote as it sums up CCPs thoughts towards EVE very well: "EVE isn't designed to just look like a cold, dark and harsh world, it's designed to be a cold, dark and harsh world."

In all honesty, I think they've been smart to stick to their 'niche' crowd, as they've been very successful with it. A lot of other MMOs have failed when they try to make something for everyone but please no one.

*sigh*, I see it alot in this game, the name calling, the outright hatred that some players for lower skill based players, and it sometimes sickens me.

Yes, I've been called a 'carebear', 'wuss', and the dreaded "NOOB" word. and it really pisses me off,

But, even so, in a way, after breaking the 50 mill SP mark just recently, I still I need to learn alot about the game, I've been podded several times myself. But, I carry on.

So, quitting only makes it worse, those certain players laugh and tell others how they made a player leave the game gets to me, and I forge ahead, hoping one day, I'll get at least one of them to quit, all because he wet himself, and went and cried in the corner all in the name of being called a "Noob" after losing his ship :)
