Let's hope so. STO needs to be made. Did a lil' whois search and found some interesting info: http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/results.jsp?domain=Startrekonline.com As of March 5, 2008 CBS owns all things STO. Maybe their are going to develop their own game and hire out a company like Blizzard or CCP to make it. That would be awesome.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware "Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product." |

CBS has always owned that domain, even when PE was developing the game the domain was controlled by CBS, so I wouldn't take it been controled by CBS as anything significant. ---- "Fate protects fools, little children and ships named Enterprise" ---- |

Originally posted by Suricata Wrong. When PE changed their name to P2 the whois changed. I was following whois very closely. And now that P2 is defunct everything went to CBS. CBS was only the Admin contact. PE/P2 were the technical and registrant contacts. I'm just glad something is difinately up. Oh, and don't go claiming this as your story now on your new ST-O.net in what ever form it takes. CBS/Paramount has always owned the STO domain - since day one. The contact info, admin contact, etc etc was always the name of CBS. It was just pointing to the Perpetual servers until a couple of days ago. If you watched the WHOIS as close as you claim, you would have noticed something very interesting a few days ago - Its gone now of course, Obviously i keep an even closer eye on the domain than you claim too. I have a feeling we are going to be hearing some big news soon - A very good feeling :p Anyone that recognises me should know where to go. |

Well all I can see is that the domain ownership has changed. www.whois.ws/domain_archive-com/startrekonline.com/ Also I couldn't find a registered trademark for star trek online och any variation like STO or startrekonline. I find that odd, but maybe it was me who didn't look good enough. |

Nor can I. All that is, is the rights information for some other games, however, Star Trek Online is not listed, so what was the point of this? |

For the Love Of...... CBS is only affliated with Zenimax/Bethesda in as much as it is Bethesda who took over the general Star Trek Gaming License two years ago and started throwing out budget titles for the PC, PS2, Wii and X-Box 360 under the Star Trek Title. The deal signed was for five years, and encompasses all genres of Star Trek up to the day that the deal was signed, however, under the original deal, Bethesda do not have any rights whatsoever to produce a star trek mmorpg. While it is true that perhaps Bethesda could have taken over the MMO from Perpetual, i would think that the fact that Bethesda have stated categorically that they have no interest in producing an MMORPG of any kind would be reason enough to count them out. The fact that CBS is affliated with Zenimax/Bethesda is not a contested point - however, the chances that it has anything to do with STO - zero. According to my sources within Bethesda, they do have at least one star trek title planned this year, but its nothing to do with STO. Incidentally, it is worth noting that CBS do not have any rights to produce trek titles related to the new movie franchise either, as these rights were signed of to JJ Abrams as part of the 5 year deal he signed to produce star trek titles. It is his company, Bad Robot, that has rights to produce any games based on the new series. They ALSO have rights to produce an MMORPG based on the new movie/tv franchise if if they wish to - But they can have nothing to do with the existing franchise. Anyway - I am pretty sure we are going to be hearing something regarding Star Trek Online fairly soon. Incidentally, as i posted above, anyone keeping a close eye on the domain around the 3rd/4th/5th of March would have noticed something very interesting. It was covered up fairly quickly and only viewable for about 12 hours, however it was somewhat revealing. For any folks who question the validity of the information i have posted above - it should be known that i run Hailing Frequency - "The Internets Largest Podcast Dedicated to Star Trek Gaming" and i have done so for the last 3 years. I have plenty of contacts within the industry. |

Very Important thing to look at while trying to identify the owner of the startrekonline domain. The Date! Copied from http://www.spiritdomains.com/ Created on..............: 2004-02-17. It shows the date CBS had created or purchased the domain which was in 2004. |
